The set features 25 high-frequency regular and irregular German separable verbs in the present tense. There are 6 worksheets, with three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations, in two design formats:
= Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new German separable verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful German verb bank.
= Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs
The answer key is a separate file with six pages, and I generally print this out as a pack for classwork, with groups of students sharing an individual pack.
The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences and various question formats. Some sentences include modal verbs and subordinating conjunctions, to ensure that students can practise locating the prefix and the verb or infinitive accurately. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practising and reinforcing the current language focus.
There are three differentiated conjugation challenges:
= Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them.
= Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a German infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding German verb conjugation.
= Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the German translation from an English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognize both the correct conjugation, accurate location of the prefix, and an accurate translation.

The cards provide structured talk opportunities, and students are also able to work on developing their listening, reading and writing skills. The language and structures focus on German separable verbs in the present tense.
The reference book includes all the questions and answers written out in full - we use this as a year-round reference resource too, and it’s useful for quick whole-group translation, vocab and grammar quizzes, which are a great way of revising and revisiting language and grammar in a more interactive and varied way.
Students use the Notes and Next Steps template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning. The question and answer card template is really popular too - it allows students to use their German practically and creatively, again using a multi-skill language learning approach.

Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in German, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 25 German Christmas words, which will also help to develop students’ awareness of some German-speaking countries Christmas traditions and figures, such as Sankt Nikolaus and Knecht Ruprecht. The vocabulary is really useful for stimulating discussion about German Christmas practices and customs. Students also enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow. The German Christmas vocabulary list features the definite article, though some grids also have the indefinite article / plurals for additional challenge.
There are 5 German to German grids, where students are prompted with the German words, and look for them in German in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list to complete. There are also 5 English to German grids, where the prompts are given in English. Students look for the German translation in the grid. They also write the German translation of the English word.
There is an answer grid for each word search, so that students can check their answers, or use for a little extra help if they need it. The answer keys help them develop independence in their learning, and also provide them with an additional opportunity to engage with the German vocabulary. The word searches and answer keys are in landscape format, with arrows indicating in which direction the individual words are located.
The word searches are useful in a range of learning contexts - as starters, refreshers, finishers, fun-time fillers and for sub / cover lessons at any time during the Christmas / Holiday season.

Challenge cards are an ideal learning activity for German class. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their German language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. This set focuses on German dates, days, months and seasons, which is usually described as beginner German vocabulary. The questions however are aimed at advanced beginner German into intermediate German students, as working with more complex language as quickly as possible helps progress students’ learning and gives them in a more realistic experience of the language they are learning.
Questions and answers address a range of grammatical concepts, such as articles, cases, word order and adjectival endings. Students may not at this stage have formally engaged with all the language and grammar included in the set, and this makes the activity equally about practicing and consolidating German language skills and actively learning new language and grammar. The questions are entirely in German, including translation questions from both German into English and English into German. It’s important to help students understand as soon as possible that translation does not mean simply exchanging word for word, and that languages work in different ways to express the same meaning. The key to successful translation is to convey the original meaning accurately. Some questions address important dates or figures in German history, such as Tag der Deutschen Einheit and Angela Merkel.
The set comprises the following non-editable files:
= 48 differentiated question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible, as the cards are more learner-friendly, and will remain in excellent condition for years
= answer key - providing students with additional opportunity to engage with language, helping them develop more independence in their learning - and a great teacher time-saver too
= answer recording sheet - print and photocopy an appropriate number for your class. I tend to use these only for more formal assessment purposes - students generally use their class workbooks to note and work out responses, saving prep time and expense.

This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in French. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too.
The aim of the game is to create a French number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card zéro, and ending with the final card, trente et un. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult learners, who really enjoy it too - the monster theme is popular with everyone! The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning.
Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little bit harder on their concentration and pronunciation. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best French accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play!

MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !
PRIMARY LATIN CLUB LATIN FOR CHILDREN LATIN FRUITS & VEGETABLES WORD & PICTURE LIST Ten fruits and ten vegetables in Latin, with both words and pictures - I like to give these to my young beginner learners of Latin, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. Children glue them into their Latin vocabulary books, or file them in their Latin vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful Latin vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning.
We also discuss which fruits we know and like, and those we would like to try. Children like to create their own word and picture dictionary lists, adding to it as they learn more. I don’t necessarily have all the fruits in my teaching and learning plan, but it’s always a good idea to give children opportunity to engage with a***broader range of words and genders***, which they begin to absorb quite naturally. The fruits and vegetables show the gender of each noun, using (m), (f), (n) and (f.pl) to denote masculine, feminine, neuter and feminine plural respectively. This is really useful for promoting discussion about grammatical concepts in Latin, specifically gender of Latin nouns, how they change in the plural form, and the absence of article.
The fruits are:
the apple
the bananas
the grapes
the lemon
the orange
the peach
the pear
the raspberry
the strawberry
the watermelon
The vegetables are:
the broccoli
the cabbage
the carrots
the cucumber
the lettuce
the mushrooms
the onions
the potatoes
the sweetcorn
the tomato
There are two backgrounds to choose from - color lilac/purple, which I use for Latin vocabulary display, or black wave.

PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS ROMAN NUMERALS DISPLAY WORD WALL These word wall cards are great for creating an instant introduction to Latin numbers and Roman Numerals 1-20. I really like to have key vocabulary displayed in a particular area - I find it gives the learning environment a real language ‘feel’ and ‘look’, keeping the language alive every day - and of course the word wall cards are useful during the introduction phase, and we also use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. We like to do number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too. My younger learners enjoy taking their mini-whiteboards or notepads, and doing Latin vocabulary or calculation race games at the word wall.
There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various location in the classroom. There are two backgrounds to choose from - color or black wave. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate - the word wall will hang really nicely, and will also last for years.

GCSE FRENCH CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER I’ve created a lot of quick conjugation workbooks for my students and they’re really popular and effective. They’re a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate all the various verb groups and tenses in French. I use them in a range of learning contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. Students really benefit from several opportunities to work through the workbook, once or twice a term across a whole school year is a great way of both mapping progress and developing overall understanding and competence.
The workbooks focus on specific sets of 25 high-frequency verbs in a range of tenses. They include modals, regular, irregular & mixed and reflexive verbs.
Each workbook is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French : English and English : French
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets.

PRIMARY FRENCH REFERENCE MAT FRENCH DAYS MONTHS SEASONS I create a whole series of high-frequency vocab reference mats and lists for my French students, as I like to ensure they are able to build a comprehensive vocab bank from the beginning of their learning. I get students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. I also have a stock for class work, printed double-sided and laminated - they last for years.
There are two alphabetical lists - one French-English, and one English-French, as I’ve found that students prefer to have both, particularly younger learners at the beginning of a particular topic or theme.
There are two non-editable files in a zipped format. They’re copyright, all rights reserved. They may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. Please read the Terms of Use carefully.

PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-10 Word searches a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practising and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This is a free word search, focusing on Numbers 0-10. The search offers a really useful learning opportunity - consolidating not only new numbers, but also working on reading, writing, spelling and literacy skills in general - children often focus on the arithmetic skills involved with numbers, but it’s just as important to work on consolidating the written words too. It’s ideal for both independent learning, as a fun-time filler as well as a targeted practice of the written numbers themselves.
Word searches are easily differentiated, with opportunity to increase challenge gradually, and learners have to look very carefully at letters, and how words are constructed to complete the grid. They are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. Here, for additional consolidation, they also rewrite each number in the word column. There is an answer grid for the word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus!
The word search is in landscape format, mirroring the common direction of reading and writing in English from left to right, facilitating learner engagement with the activity. The landscape format is also really useful for learners whose first language is written from right to left. There is a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet - I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners, and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable.
Please note this is the math center version of my ESL / EFL Numbers 0-10 Word Search freebie. The file is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved - it may not be shared, distributed outside your own classroom, copied or rewritten in any way - please read the Terms of Use.
THANKS AND ENJOY THE WORD SEARCH!
BACK TO SCHOOL ITALIAN GREETINGS BUONGIORNO BUNTING BANNERS It’s great to create a new look for the new school year - I use bunting / banners not only to create a real Italian look and feel in the learning environment, but also to promote everyday language and core vocabulary for learners of all ages. Bunting / banners work well throughout the entire school year, but definitely has a celebratory back to school feel! The bunting has a small tag that you can clip to a line of string across the room (like a washing line!), or to a wall.

GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency German separable verbs in the imperfect tense, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, 150 quick conjugations, answer key and verb lists ideal for advanced KS3 German and KS4 German students who are developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation in German, and working with notion of past tense in German. I do tend to introduce the perfect tense and imperfect tense fairly closely together, as usage of the tenses is not directly equivalent with English for example, particularly in spoken German, and it’s really useful to be able to compare and contrast tenses. The focus is on common separable prefixes such as ab, an, aus, ein, um and zu. Prefixes such as***entlang and entgegen*** are not included in this particular collection of verbs.
The resource has the following structure:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German.
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. Students also note down any new verbs they discover, which enables them to build up a really sound verb vocabulary bank.

GCSE ITALIAN KS4 ITALIAN KS3 ITALIAN REFLEXIVE VERBS LIST I give my language learners of all grades and learning phases a whole series of reference lists, that build up into a really comprehensive Italian vocabulary reference bank over the course of their language learning programme. They’re really popular with my students, as they know they can just go to their reference file or folder, and find what they need. They tell me that they feel far more confident about their Italian when they have a good grasp of core high-frequency Italian vocabulary. They’re great for quick Italian vocabulary quizzes too.
There are of 25 high-frequency Italian reflexive verbs in the infinitive form, alphabetically both Italian-English and English-Italian - my students get these pretty much at the beginning of their program, even before we start to work on conjugation.
If my group is small, and depending on the particular work we’re doing, I provide students with a set of double-sided and laminated reference resources. My language students all have a reference file or folder, again from the beginning of their learning, and part of helping them develop independence in, and responsibility for, their learning, is to give them opportunity to keep their learning resources in good order, and easily accessible. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Italian flag, which I tend to use for vocabulary display, and black wave. I use a background for vocab lists, as feedback from learners over the years suggests that a visual can be helpful when learning what can be a large amount of new Italian vocabulary.

PRIMARY SPANISH CHRISTMAS NUMBERS 0-20 ADDITION & SUBTRACTION CARDS WITH WHOLE-GROUP WARM-UP GREAT FOR YEAR 7 TOO! This is a set of Primary Spanish Numbers 0-20 Christmas games cards. I created them for my younger learners to practise their Spanish numbers around Christmas time - they love the Christmas theme! I’ve found that Christmas is a great time to revisit language learned earlier in the year, and the games cards are also multi-skill - reading, speaking, listening - they’re ideal for honing numeracy skills too. Children really like to work together as they play the games. I’ve described several games that are really successful for us that you can try. I always do a quick warm-up and recap of numbers before we play any number games, and the simple forwards and backwards counting presentation is ideal for this.
There are 72 calculations in total - 36 addition and 36 subtraction. The answer cards are marked with a plus or minus sign. This means that there are 144 cards in total - I always laminate my languages games cards because they’re far easier to work with and last for years - so do try to laminate them if you can. I have several sets that I keep in learning folders so that children can choose them during free-choice time - they’re really popular!

EASTER BUNNY CARDS PERFECT FOR YOUR PRIMARY LATIN CLASSROOM - DEVELOP AND PRACTISE LANGUAGE SKILLS IN LATIN WITH MULTI-SKILL GAMES!
PRIMARY LATIN EASTER BUNNY ANIMALS GAMES CARDS are perfect for young and beginning learners of LATIN. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both masculine and feminine, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the differences in how determiners function in LATIN too.
It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with LATIN, to identify cognates and to develop spelling skills in LATIN. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using visual clues and prompts. Along the way, children may even get to know some new animals!
There are 80 cards in total, which include 2 decks of 40 cards to enable you to differentiate your games:
- purple bunny cards with the word written out in full in LATIN, as well as the picture prompt.
- blackline bunny cards with the word written out in full in ENGLISH, as well as the picture prompt
- blackline bunny cards with the picture prompt only

Playing against a timer adds some extra fun! Laminate the cards for longevity - you will be able to play the EASTER BUNNY games for many EASTERTIMES to come! Older learners embarking on their LATIN journey really enjoy the games too!

GRATIA PLENA ET FELIX PASCHA!
PRIMARY FRENCH NUMBERS FLASHCARDS POSTERS - perfect for creating an instant introduction to French Numbers 1-20 in the classroom, and great for reading, spelling, speaking and pronunciation prompts too. The posters create a fabulous French feel to the learning environment, promoting French as a living language, featuring in the every day life of learners. They help learners familiarize themselves with the 'look' of French words, and how they are represented in the written form. This in turn helps them begin to link spelling with sound. The posters work just as well as flashcards too - using flashcards to introduce and practice language is a really successful directed teaching and learning activity, and the font is large enough for learners to see from various locations in the classroom.
