Ideal multi-skill language learning activity for developing listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling skills for Italian language learners of all ages - in my experience, adult learners really enjoy a few competitive games of bingo too! I’ve described the games as not grade-specific, as the general goal for me is not to learn a lot of Italian Christmas vocabulary as such, but to work quite specifically on Italian language skills development.
There are 100 grids in total, in both colour & BW. The colour grids definitely look really good, but can prove expensive to prep - I have sets that I’ve laminated, and students use wipe-free pens, so that the grids can be used many times. Younger learners do tend to prefer the BW grids, taking some additional time to colour them in themselves. I often combine that activity with revision of colours, which can work really well too. The games are designed for players to cross off all the words or pictures on their grids in order to win the game.
This set comprises the following:
40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) You can give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students then select grids randomly from the bowl. The set features 25 high-frequency irregular and mixed German verbs in the present tense. There are 6 worksheets, with three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations, in two design formats:
= Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new regular German verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful German verb bank.
= Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs
The answer key is a separate file with six pages, and I generally print this out as a pack for classwork, with groups of students sharing an individual pack.
The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences and various question formats. Some sentences include modal verbs and subordinating conjunctions, to ensure that students can practice locating the verb or infinitive accurately. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practicing and reinforcing the current language focus.
There are three differentiated conjugation challenges:
= Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them.
= Conjugation Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a German infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding German verb conjugation.
= Conjugation Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the German translation from an English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognize both the correct conjugation and an accurate translation.

I have, Who has? is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing & refreshing a range of fruits and vegetables in Spanish.
These games have a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too - I point out particular phonemes, accents and sounds too - such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word.
The aim of the game is to create a Spanish sentence chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card, Tengo la primera tarjeta, and ending with the final card, Tengo la última tarjeta. The game works well if the sentence sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my older adult learners, who really enjoy it too. The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are familiar with the written word, and starting to link spelling with sound. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning.

There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary - it is actually so much more!
The question card templates provide an additional learning activity, with students applying their developing Spanish language knowledge creatively and practically, as they make game cards for the class. This is integral to successful language learning, and it’s actually a really popular activity with my students. They read their new sentences to the whole class, and it’s generally a competition to see who can create the longest sentences with the most fruits.
The game is also really successful when we play in teams against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - students love to see if they can beat their own time record, as well as the other teams. The competitive element is a great motivator for learning too.

I generally work with telling time in German quite quickly with my beginner German students, as it lends itself really well to promoting speaking in the classroom, discussing daily routines for example. Students tend to find half past the hour in German quite challenging, and the focused practice is really useful.
There are two questions: Wie spät ist es / Wie viel Uhr ist es? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. The second question is Richtig oder falsch and students write either richtig or falsch - where the answer is falsch, remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation.

German separable verbs can be quite a challenging concept for English-speaking German learners, and focused practice really helps them consolidate their understanding of how to conjugate them accurately, particularly the location of the separable prefix at the end of the clause , and the various contexts in which the prefix is not separated, such as with subordinating conjunctions and modal verbs.
The questions are all in German, and are differentiated, ranging in complexity and challenge. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with: these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and word order in German.

Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This mini-bundle features two sets of 10 differentiated word searches & answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge.
The focus is on key beginner Spanish vocabulary:
los números 0-10 en español : Numbers 0-10 in Spanish
los números 0-20 en español : Numbers 0-20 in Spanish
In each set, there are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, where students are prompted with Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test.
There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and students have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. As students work through the word searches, there is an increasing number of directions, making the grids more challenging.

The word searches are really versatile too - I use them for sub lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m introducing this particular target language in Spanish.

This set features ten differentiated word searches with answer keys, focusing on the days of the week in English, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge.
There are 5 English to English grids, labelled with Big Ben, where learners are prompted with the English words, and look for them in English in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features a Spanish word list that they have to complete, as extra practice for saying and writing the days of the week together in both English and Spanish - this works really well for embedding language. There are also 5 Spanish to English grids, labelled with the Spanish flag, where the prompt words are given in Spanish, and learners have to find the English equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in English, they also complete the English word list on each page. Learners can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid.
There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are great for helping learners develop independence in their learning, and also give them an additional opportunity to engage with the target language. The word searches are in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right in both English and Spanish, facilitating learner engagement with the activity.

Written Recall Challenge One
This challenge requires students to write the corresponding German word or phrase from an English prompt. The words and phrases are in random, rather than category order - this challenges the memory more than when the vocab is in the order learners first learn it in.

This challenge requires students to write the corresponding English word or phrase from a German prompt. The words and phrases are again in random, rather than category order.

Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in English, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-10, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge.
There are 6 English to English grids, labelled with Big Ben, where learners are prompted with the English words, and look for them in English in the grid. For additional vocab consolidation, Grids 1-4 also feature a German word list that learners have to complete, as extra practice for saying and writing the numbers together — this works really well for embedding language. Grids 5 & 6 require learners to work out what the numbers are in English, and write them out again in English, for additional spelling practice. There are also 4 German to English grids, labelled with a***traditional German House*** , where the prompt words are given in German, and learners have to find the English equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing and spelling in English, they also complete the English word list on each page.
Learners can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages.
The posters show the***literal translation***, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom Revenons à nos moutons ! - Let’s return to our sheep! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real French ambiance, promoting the everyday use of French.

Ideal for advanced beginner English into intermediate English students. Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-100 in English, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and language skills in general.
Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their language skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and sentence questions, which feature mathematical language in English and more complex linguistic structures.
Hyphens are really important in English numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practice this aspect of language.
There are two formats to choose from - the search grids and answer keys as separate worksheets, and also a file with both grids and answer keys together, so that you can print each grid and key double-sided, according to which suits your classroom needs better.

Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie set features two differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. They focus on a range of countries where Spanish is an official language, with reference to a number of countries where a significant number of the population speak Spanish as their first or second language. The word searches really do help students develop their knowledge and awareness of the Spanish-speaking world, and just how widely Spanish is spoken around the globe.
The word searches work well across the school year, not only when you’re focusing on Spanish-speaking countries. I use them as starters, refreshers, plenaries, fun-time fillers and for sub lessons quite regularly, as this helps embed students’ learning, and they genuinely enjoy putting their memory to the test!

My students have always found these a really useful learning activity. With the structured speaking prompts, they are able to develop confidence in their speaking, working independently in pairs or small groups. At the same time, they are building their vocabulary and enhancing their understanding and knowledge of German grammar too.
There are 15 questions with 15 suggested responses. As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt.
The questions in this freebie are aimed at advanced beginner German to intermediate German students, though my more advanced students enjoy ‘going back to the start’ too, particularly near exam time. There’s a reference sheet, with all the questions and answers written out in full - I always provide a reference resource, and my students like to keep them in their learning folders for longer-term reference. When they create their own questions and answers for each other on the question and answer card template, they also find them really useful as a form of writing frame.
I always laminate my language learning cards, even though the prep is a bit time-consuming - they’re far sturdier and easier to use, and will definitely last for years!
