My students find them to be a great way of practicing, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for sub lessons. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practice the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how German conjugation ‘works’. The workbook is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes & Next Steps template, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key which helps students develop more independence in their learning, also providing them with an additional opportunity to engage with the target language Try this free sampler, which will give you a good idea of how the resource works: GERMAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-conjugation-practice-sampler-12149140 Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, with a wide range of other German language teaching & learning materials, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. These Spanish colors posters create an instant introduction to a range of colors in Spanish in your classroom. The posters also give the learning environment a fabulous Spanish look and feel, promoting Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of the classroom. They introduce learners to colors in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with both the ‘look’ of Spanish words, and how sounds are represented in the written form. The key colors are: aquamarine (blue-green); black; blue; brown (both marrón and pardo - I’ve also included castaño, as this is used to describe hair color and eyes for example, which are great topics to get learners talking in Spanish); cream (both beis and crema); green; grey; navy-blue; orange; bright pink; pink; purple; red; white; yellow Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or black wave, so 38 posters in total. Laminate the posters if possible, or print on card stock, particularly if you’re going to use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language: they’ll hang really nicely, stay in good shape, and you’ll be able to use them for years. English Fruits Task Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of fruits in English in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words and more complex sentences in English. Sentence structure and word order may differ from students’ first and/or home language, so it’s important to provide them with opportunities to engage with language that moves beyond single-unit vocabulary as soon as possible. The questions are all in English, and range in complexity and challenge. I usually read through questions before my students work with the cards for the first time, to ensure that everyone understands any new or unknown language and structures. There are 35 fruits addressed in the task cards, and it’s unlikely that they are all in your teaching and learning plan. I always include additional vocabulary to add a little challenge, and to encourage students to think a little more creatively and independently. I’ve used definite, indefinite and partitive article, and singular and plural - this really helps students familiarize themselves with grammatical concepts, including the lack of noun gender in English, without explicit instruction. There are some translation questions too - both from French to English and English to French, which is a great introduction to translation for beginner to intermediate learners. I explain that there are several possible correct alternatives, as translation is not a word-for-word activity, which is definitely useful for them to know from the very beginning of their learning. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and grammatical concepts creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other, and I encourage them to use the existing questions as a frame of reference as they create their own. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: Set of 36 question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper 2-page answer recording sheet 2-page answer key 2-page alphabetical fruits list, English-French & French-English THANKS AND ENJOY YOUR ENGLISH LESSONS!

These German Christmas word searches are a real winner - the Christmas-theme is always a great motivator. There are 33 German Christmas words, and I’ve chosen a selection of more generic Christmas words, and also some which are very German-specific, such as Sankt Nikolaus and Knecht Ruprecht. Students shouldn’t attempt to learn all the vocabulary at once, as the objective of the word searches is to engage with German Christmas vocabulary, to really focus on the individual words, genders and articles, and to have lots of practice at general recall, writing and spelling. The German Christmas vocabulary list is ideal as a long-term reference resource, and really useful for students when they are working more creatively and independently, for example***German Christmas reading comprehension, German Christmas writing activities*** and so on. There is an increasing challenge through the grids, and the differentiation does ensure that all students are challenged. There are 5 German to German grids, with a vocabulary list to complete for additional consolidation. There are also 5 English to German grids, also with a vocabulary list to complete, which is a great way to really work on students’ recall and spelling. Students can identify the level of challenge by the increasing size of the grid, number of words to search for, and the direction the words appear in, which they can see by the direction of the arrows at the top of the grids. I’ve put a couple of extra challenges in too, to encourage students to look really carefully at the words - for example, they may have to find candles and work out what that is in German - only the prompt die Adventskerze appears in the reference list. Answer keys are essential in my view, and I always give them to students. Not only are they a great teacher-time saver, they give students an additional opportunity to engage with language, and help them develop more independence in their learning. If you can, laminate the answer keys, and distribute amongst small groups of students during classtime - they will definitely last for years. A great way of really consolidating vocab is to get students to complete the word list on the grid sheet too. There are also five English to Spanish grids. With these, the prompt words are in English, so students have to know the correct Spanish word in order to find it in the grid. There’s a word list to complete on these too. As the challenge increases, the words appear in an increasing number of different directions, and students can identify which directions they’re looking for by referring to the arrow key on each grid. Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 33 Spanish Christmas words, which I also use as a prompt to stimulate discussion about Spanish Christmas practices and customs, and we talk about what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, where students are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing and spelling in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer key for each word search, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are absolutely essential for me, as they provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, help them develop more independence in their learning. There’s a Spanish-English Christmas vocabulary reference sheet - you can either laminate this to share around small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as a general reference resource. Students will have to look carefully at some of the words they’re looking for, as they may appear slightly differently - for example, they may have to find the gifts and work out what that is in Spanish - only the prompt the gift appears in the reference list. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Ideal for young and beginner Spanish learners. I like to give my language learners comprehensive core vocabulary books and reference resources. They enable them to work more independently, both in class and at home. This Spanish Telling Time Reference Book has 14 pages, and features every analog clock time in Spanish. There’s a My Notes page too - I encourage students to make notes on their progress, and think about how they are progressing. We also use this to inform and guide whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular and effective activity too. I like to give visual vocabulary guides to my young beginner language learners, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. It’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Students file the guides in their Spanish vocabulary folders with other vocabulary guides, which gives them an accessible and useful Spanish vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner Spanish learners, I focus initially on a single time set, because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to Spanish prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with o’clock, I then move on to additional time sets. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish resources and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!
