SPANISH FOR CHILDREN NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS BEGINNER SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS WITH ANSWER KEY & RECORDING SHEET Files are non-editable in a zipped format. Task cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment - they’re really popular with my students, and this set is an ideal introduction to, and practice of, Spanish numbers for beginner Spanish students, and for children learning Spanish. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling numbers and beginner Spanish vocabulary. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and are great for honing numeracy skills too - especially if calculators are not allowed! The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other! Some questions are in English, and some in Spanish, to ensure challenge, and to provide learners with an opportunity to apply their developing knowledge of Spanish, and to infer meaning from context. The set is structured as follows: 48 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. 2-page answer recording sheet. I print these double-sided to save paper, though I only use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes - students generally use their class workbooks to note their calculations and responses. 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, I laminate these too, as it means I only have to prep them once Have a browse in my store for more Spanish resources and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

ANGLAIS ESL EFL ENGLISH FRUITS TASK CARDS FOR FRENCH-SPEAKING LEARNERS OF ENGLISH This resource consists of non-editable files in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. English Fruits Task Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of fruits in English in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words and more complex sentences in English. Sentence structure and word order may differ from students’ first and/or home language, so it’s important to provide them with opportunities to engage with language that moves beyond single-unit vocabulary as soon as possible. The questions are all in English, and range in complexity and challenge. I usually read through questions before my students work with the cards for the first time, to ensure that everyone understands any new or unknown language and structures. There are 35 fruits addressed in the task cards, and it’s unlikely that they are all in your teaching and learning plan. I always include additional vocabulary to add a little challenge, and to encourage students to think a little more creatively and independently. I’ve used definite, indefinite and partitive article, and singular and plural - this really helps students familiarize themselves with grammatical concepts, including the lack of noun gender in English, without explicit instruction. There are some translation questions too - both from French to English and English to French, which is a great introduction to translation for beginner to intermediate learners. I explain that there are several possible correct alternatives, as translation is not a word-for-word activity, which is definitely useful for them to know from the very beginning of their learning. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and grammatical concepts creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other, and I encourage them to use the existing questions as a frame of reference as they create their own. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: Set of 36 question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper 2-page answer recording sheet 2-page answer key 2-page alphabetical fruits list, English-French & French-English THANKS AND ENJOY YOUR ENGLISH LESSONS!

BACK TO SCHOOL SPANISH CLASSROOM DECOR SPANISH GREETINGS BUENOS DÍAS BANNERS It’s great to create a new look for the new school year - I use bunting/banners not only to create a real Spanish look and feel in the learning environment, but also to promote everyday language and core vocabulary for learners of all ages. The bunting has a small tag that you can clip to a line of string across the room (like a washing line!), or to a wall. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish classroom display, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! SPANISH COLORS FLASHCARDS POSTERS FREEBIE #2

(0)
BEGINNER SPANISH COLORS FLASHCARDS POSTERS Los colores en español 8 posters / flashcards These 4***adjectival agreement*** posters, with a focus on the color verde, make an ideal grammar and speaking prompt in the Spanish classroom - for example, I encourage students to look carefully at the differences between el monstruo verde and los monstruos verdes. Giving learners the opportunity to look very closely at language, to identify similarities and differences with their first language, as well as rules and patterns in the target language, is a really key language teaching and learning strategy. I use high-frequency beginner Spanish vocabulary to do this. As students build their vocabulary, with increasing understanding of gender and gender agreement, they are able to apply those rules and patterns to new language. I use questions such as Verdadero o falso? El monstruo verdes? , really emphasizing pronunciation, so that they can hear the difference in agreement. I often write the questions on the whiteboard too, as it’s equally important that they are able to***recognise the differences in the written words*** too, and to link sound with spelling . Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. It doesn’t matter if this particular language doesn’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the flashcards / posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in Spanish, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish. There are two backgrounds to choose from - either the Spanish flag, or black wave. Laminate the flashcards / posters if possible - they’ll hang really nicely, stay in good shape, and you’ll be able to use them for many years to come! Have a browse in my store for more Spanish flashcards / posters, and a wide range of other teaching and learning resources, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! SPANISH COLORS FLASHCARDS POSTERS FREEBIE #1

BEGINNER SPANISH SPANISH FOR CHILDREN SPANISH COLORS FLASHCARDS POSTERS Los colores en español - 8 posters / flashcards These four my favorite color flashcards / posters make an ideal speaking prompt in the Spanish classroom - I encourage students to ask each other ¿Cuál es tu color favorito? as a lesson starter / warm-up, and to select a different color every time they answer. As they learn more colors, their answers become more varied. I tend to introduce the plural form with the connective y (and) quite quickly, so that students can extend their answers as much as they possibly can - they have great fun seeing who knows the most colors, and can create the longest answers. The key colors are: blue, green, pink and yellow. There are two backgrounds to choose from - either the Spanish flag, or black wave. Laminate the posters if possible, or print on card stock, particularly if you’re going to use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language too: they’ll hang really nicely, stay in good shape, and you’ll be able to use the posters for many years to come! SPANISH ADJECTIVES LIST FREEBIE #2

BEGINNER SPANISH ADJECTIVES an instant reference resource for students focusing on Spanish adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a second collection of 25 high-frequency Spanish adjectives that I work with at the beginning of their Spanish program - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize Spanish adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English, so that they can produce more complex and descriptive language as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 25 adjectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing Spanish vocabulary. There are two alphabetical lists - one Spanish-English, and one English-Spanish, as I’ve found that beginner language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag (which I tend to use as part of a vocabulary display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. This French-speaking countries word searches freebie comprises two differentiated word searches with answer keys, featuring a range of countries where French is an official language. I have a set of 10 differentiated word searches with country, capital city and flag reference list in my store too - the full set description is as follows: Mots cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches with answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 40 countries / territories where French is an official language. The word searches help students***develop their knowledge and awareness of the Francophone world***, and just how widely it is spoken around the globe. I’ve used the definite article for the countries, so that students can see which countries are masculine, and which feminine, which in turn helps consolidate knowledge of gender in French. In Grids 1-4, students search for a particular country. In Grids 5 & 6, they search for a range of capital cities. Grid 7 gives 16 capital cities as prompts, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid. Similarly, in Grid 8, there are 16 countries given, and students search for the corresponding capital cities in the grid. Grids 9 & 10 show a selection of national flags, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid, and also write the country name in the prompt box next to the individual flag. There is a single grid per page, A4 (8.5 x 11) portrait format. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. Each grid has a corresponding answer key, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. There is a complete reference sheet of all 40 countries, capital cities and flags - you can either laminate this to share around small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as a general longer-term reference resource. GERMAN TELLING TIME HALF PAST LIST FREEBIE

DAZ DAF GERMAN FOR CHILDREN TELLING TIME BEGINNER GERMAN TELLING TIME ANALOG HALF PAST THE HOUR LIST WITH MATCHING CLOCK FACES The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom. The license is a single-user license only. The resource is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of German, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to***link it in their memory with a visual image***, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell the time. Children glue the lists into their German vocabulary books, or file them in their German vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful German vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner German learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows half past the hour on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to German prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with half past, I then move on to additional time sets. Students often find half past the hour in German quite challenging, so the focused practice is really useful. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I use for German vocabulary display, or plain.
