This is a zip file containing one full years worth of homeworks comprised of 48 individual pdf’s. They have been written to provide a suitable level of questions for Year 11 students who are working towards grade 5. It can also be given to any groups working at a similar level. For each homework 20 questions are drawn randomly from a bank of 70 question types and in turn each question type is randomly generated so this is a full set of non-repeating homeworks. At the end of the sheet there are always an additional two fraction arithmetic questions. This is a spreadsheet that will deliver questions for you to use as a starter exercise, something for you to project on the board before your students enter the room and they can get on with the questions whilst you do the register etc. It’s a great resource for interleaving How it works: Key questions from the three topics are listed on separate sheets, you can add to these if you want but they currently stand at Germany (74), US (72) and Russia (53). Each time the screen is refreshed by pressing the F9 button, Excel will return a random selection of questions. Choosing five gives two billion possible combinations, you can select up to ten questions which gives significantly more. Obviously I’m not a history teacher, this was produced as a request from a colleague who had seen what I do in maths. This spreadsheet can be added to or modified, if someone is interested but uses a different specification, send me a bank of questions and I can modify this to suit your requirements.

Any pupils wanting to learn their times tableswill need lots of grids so they can practice regularly. This excel spreadsheet will provide an infinite number of grids, simply pressing F9 the grids will be refreshed. I have set up pages with the following grids (1 to 10) x (1 to 10), (2,4 & 8) x (1to 10) and (2, 3, 4, 5 & 8) x (1 to 10) but the spreadsheet is fully editable. Battleships has often been used in the classroom but has led to pupils being confused between coordinates and grid references, this leads to problems when numbering axes (boxes rather than lines) Battleshapes seeks to address this by providing ships represented by a variety of 2D shapes. HMS Square, USS Rhombus, HMS Kite etc Pupils sink ships by hitting the corners of each shape. The resource is a Powerpoint file and is fully editable. To add some differentiation I have included sheets where the grid is numbered, partially numbered and not numbered. An additional sheet is included for those who prefer to talk about vertices rather than corners. As with any resource, please make sure your school pays for the resource and not you.
