Open ended maths investigation, exploring multiplication of numbers and the size of their products. Children are encouraged to work systematically, initially multiplying 1 digit x 1 digit, 1 digit x 2 digit and 2 digit x 2 digit numbers. Numbers are linked to letters of the alphabet and children encouraged to find word products to give structure to the investigation whilst also making links to spelling.
Children can move onto more complex multiplications as required since the investigation can be opened up to find longer words & explore further patterns.

Multiplication array cards to support learning of times tables throughout KS1 and KS2.
Clear pictorial representation of arrays helps children to develop understanding of concepts of multiplication and division. Children can use these support cards alongside counters to further support understanding of multiplication and division. Can be used to support any multiplication work and activities involving multiplication or inverse. Can also be used to support understanding about the area of shapes (linking multiplication to squared units of measure).
