Differentiated phonics worksheets for /j/, /v/, /w/, /x/, /y/, /z/ & /zz/, /qu/
Each sound has:
Labeling worksheet (differentiated versions)
Circle the matching word worksheet
Find, Highlight and Write worksheet (differentiated versions)
All worksheets designed with reference to the Letters and Sounds Word List.
e.g. All the example /j/ words use only graphemes taught previously (i.e. during phase 2). The example /qu/ words might contain graphemes taught in previous weeks of phase 3 and those taught in phase 2.
Very clear black and white clip-art used.
I often enlarge the worksheets to A3 and use them for whole class teaching.
Fun phonics worksheets for Letters and Sounds Phase 3.
Consonant digraphs: /ch/ /sh/ /th/ /ng/
Vowel digraphs: /ai/ /ee/ /oa/ long /oo/ short /oo/ /ar/ /or/ /ur/ /ow/ /oi/ /er/
Vowel trigraphs: /igh/ /ear/ /air/ /ure/
Partner worksheets allow children to work and learn with a peer, taking it in turns to write the focus grapheme, they then read the word to their friend who listens and ticks the check circle next to the word when it is read correctly, the friend then re-reads the word to get their check circle ticked. Using different coloured pencils makes it easy to see that children have been taking turns. An extension is to take it in turns drawing sound buttons under each example word. Highly effective and enjoyed by children.
I have also uploaded a corresponding version of each worksheet without check circles if you wish to use them as individual work.
Each word illustrated with extra clear black & white clipart, therefore easy to photocopy and for children to colour.

All worksheets designed with reference to the Letters and Sounds Word Lists.
e.g. All the example /ur/ words use only graphemes taught previously (i.e. during earlier weeks of phase 3 and during phase 2). Therefore all the words used should be fully decodable for the learner.

Spelling Mats Phase 3 and Phase 5
Carefully designed, double-sided, Phase 2 and 3 phonics mats.
One side has grapheme and memorable clip-art example, reverse side has a list of decodable words.
Each side is laid out in the reverse order - so that when the clip-art side is printed and put back-to-back with the word list side the words are directly behind the image. This helps the learner to find the spelling pattern they are looking for as the mat is ‘flippable’.
Differentiated word lists - one with 4 example words (3 easily decodable and one slighty tricky) and another version with only 3 words (all easy to read and in a bigger font)
Also different versions of the clip-art side included. (With/ without word label, and one with a few different memorable images.)

Most common suffix (-ful, -est, -ing, -less, -ly, -er) and prefix (re-, un-, dis-, mis-, pre-) investigation worksheets.
Each suffix and prefix meaning is given, plus an example.
Can be differentiated in numerous ways:
1) Students think of their own example of words with common prefixes and suffixes. [page 1 & page 2]
2) Students can sort the provided examples. [page 3] and add some of their own
3) Students can decide which prefix or suffix works with the given base words and then add them to the table in the appropriate place. [page 4] (answers will vary)
You may choose to do just suffixes or prefixes in one lesson or print back to back and do it all at once.
I always like to get students to work in pairs and help each other complete worksheets and also add other examples.
