AQA Chapter 2 - Lesson 1 - Circuit-Symbols

(0)
This is the first lesson in a series of lessons for the new AQA (9-1) GCSE course. It is an introductory lesson to electricity, and this resource can be used for any group, but is mainly made with a low ability group in mind. It could be used as a KS3 resource to introduce electricity. Lesson contains a starter on the value of symbols/logos, and goes through the meaning of circuits and symbols, and contains a quiz/few practical exercises to get students used to making and drawing circuits. Lesson ends with a plenary of exam questions.

KS3 C2.1.1 Metals and Non metals

(0)
This lesson goes through the differences of metals and non-metals, by way of a practical circus. The equipment needed is listed on the first slide, with sheets explaining each station within the powerpoint (and printable tables for students to complete). This lesson also begins to highlight the arrangement of the periodic table.

AQA C2.5 Introduction to Electrolysis

(0)
This is a powerpoint to accompany a practical, and a teacher diagram drawing. Students recap what types of bonding there are, and is an opportunity for teachers to either plunge further into their recap or to use the standalone task. [whiteboards recommended] Students then introduced to idea of electrolysis, and are shown some examples of how it can be used in real life situations (slightly exaggerated). Two diagrams are on powerpoint for reference to draw on a whiteboard. Ideal opportunity to ask students questions as you go along, recapping ionic bonding essentially. Students then do an electroplating experiment. Suggestion copper (copper sulfate). This lesson is compatible with both the old and new chemistry GCSE, and is meant as only an introduction to the topic.
