This resource relates to the alphabet: uppercase and lowercase letters. Each worksheet focuses on each letter both uppercase/capitals and lowercase. The various tasks on each worksheet is listed. They include colouring, search and find and letter formation and select 2 pictures out of 5 that begin with the focus letter.

Clear and comprehensive Teacher’s Notes on suggested use of this resource.
The learning objectives are outlined - in short the children to write from memory simple sentences dictated by the teacher that include GPCs and common exception words.
This activity gives the student the opportunity to practise their spelling.
You can use this resource in focus groups or whole class teaching.
The texts are numbered but you do not have to follow the number order. You can pick and choose any text to suit the level of your class or group.
As suggested in the teacher’s notes, you print of the text to read aloud or play the audio. After the dictation, the children can correct each other’s work by referring to the text on the PowerPoint Slide, and then copy the corrected piece of writing into their literacy books in their best handwriting.
Punctuations dictated are: full stops, commas in a list, question marks and exclamation marks. Speech marks/inverted commas are also used in two of the texts for the higher Keystage students.

Example of one suggested activity:
Choose the cards you want to print off onto card and laminate and use with drywipe pens or you can laminate and cut out the red crosses to show taking away.
Students count the number of animals.
Write the total counted.
Cross out whatever number the card states e.g. ‘Cross out 3’
Students then count how many animals are left and write the answer.
You do not need to print off all the cards. If you wish to concentrate on subtraction within 5 with reception, then just print off the Alligator cards which are in colour and b/w.
If you want your students to practise subtraction within 12, print off the cards with goats.

The vocabulary is age-appropriate and children are encouraged to work out the meaning of words in the context of the story.
The subject matters are familiar to the children and so there are cross-curricular themes.
