It’s Halloween! Your students will have fun playing bingo, Snap, memory games and other games with this resource. x30 Bingo Cards numbered 1 to 30 - 12 pictures on each card All the bingo cards are different. It can be played as a whole class or in small groups. Children can dab or cross off pictures that they have with a dry-wipe pen or place a counter on their pictures. 36 Calling cards with words and pictures. Snap! – Make extra copies of the calling cards for students to play Snap! Memory Match Game: Photocopy two sets and then lay out a selection of the cards face down on the table. Players take turns to pick up two cards. If the cards match, the player keeps the two. If the two cards do not match, the player returns the cards to the same position they were in face down. The players have to try and remember where the cards are. This is a fun matching hands-on activity working with 2D shapes. Aimed at: Early Years/Year 1, SEN and children learning English. <strong>Content:</strong> Ten sets of Shape Match Mats – Set 1 to Set 12 Ten sets of Shape Cards – Set 1 to Set 12 Labels for shapes Shapes used: square, circle, triangle, rectangle, oval, pentagon, diamond/rhombus, heart, star, crescent and trapezium shape. The mats are whole page landscape and should be printed onto card and laminated. Enlarge to A3 and get children to work in pairs to match the shapes. Each mat displays various shapes in different positions, size and colour. For each mat there are sets of shapes which should be printed onto card or good quality paper and then cut out ready for the children to start the matching activity. The cut out shapes are placed on top of the correct shapes shown on the Shape Mat. The shape, colour and size should match. More than one shape card can be placed on top of a shape. This is an opportunity for children to count the number of matching shapes, describe colours and shapes. Included are shape labels - you may want to use these to revise shapes with the children. This resource focuses on the legend of Saint Patrick and myths. The PowerPoint Presentation includes whole class activities and there are questions at the end of the presentation. Children are encouraged to participate in discussion about the different myths and legends in relation to St Patrick/St Patrick’s Day. The resource contains:- 32 Slides PowerPoint Presentation Flexible detailed lesson plans covering 2 lessons (includes learning objectives and plenaries/closing session). Each PowerPoint slide is referred to in the lesson plans. Lesson 1: Children link the shamrock St Patrick is holding to Irish myths, including leprechaun costumes that they might see on St Patrick’s Day celebrations. Learn the difference between myths and legends. They look at mythical beasts and describing words and phrases. Differentiated worksheets - With support - LA draw their own picture of Cyclops and label the parts with adjectives. MA/HA - Draw own picture of Cyclops or create their own mythical creature and label it with adjectives and and use simple sentences to describe in more detail, e.g. its body was as big as a house. Extension: Complete Patrick’s Day Factsheet (colour in/4 questions). Lesson 2: Previous is lesson reviewed. This lesson focuses on the retelling of myths and sequencing events. Three mythical stories on PowerPoint are read out and children decide which one they like better and what makes them interesting. Discuss what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the stories. Differentiated Activity 1 - Lower Ability children cut out and sequence three pictures and write a simple sentence below each picture called St. Patrick and the Serpent. Middle Ability - Cut out sentences and glue below the correct pictures to tell the story of St Patrick and the Serpent . High Ability - Retell legend of St Patrick and the Serpent. In this ‘I Spy’ autumn/fall related product, students have to seek and find 18 two-dimensional pumpkin shapes. There are two sets of ‘I Spy’ worksheets: Students draw a circle around the matching shapes: Set 1: For more able students who can find the shape regardless of the pumpkin pattern. Set 2: For students who need to see the exact pattern and shape. When all the shapes are found, students should write the name of the shape at the bottom of the worksheet. This resource contains a variety of nativity puzzles and games such as word searches, crossword, word scramble to reinforce children’s knowledge of the birth of Jesus. Content: Nativity Puzzle 1 - There are 9 pieces for children to cut out and glue correctly onto a separate sheet of paper. Nativity Puzzle 2 - This sheet already has two puzzle pieces. Children finish off the puzzle using the other 7 pieces. Nativity Scene (x2) - Children write a caption for the picture and then colour in. One sheet contains handwriting lines. This product relates to alphabet uppercase and lowercase letters and pictures beginning with letters of alphabet and displays for classroom. Aa to Zz friezes (labeled and unlabeled pictures). Laminate and punch holes and thread through with a string to hang around the classroom or peg onto a washing line across a wall. Aa – Zz word strips and related pictures Laminate and cut out and place in resource center Students trace over the initial dotted letter with dry-wipe pen Alphabet cards Alphabet cards to be printed off as many times as you require, laminate and cut out. students can play alphabet snap. Match up - Match lower case letters to upper case letters. Other games – lay out 4 or 5 letters in alphabetical order, e.g. k, l, m, n, o, cover them over. Take a letter away without the students seeing and ask which letter is missing. Practice writing frames using Sassoon dotted font These are in upper and lower cases. Each one should be laminated. After focussing on e.g. ‘t’, students can practice writing over the dots and then without the dots on the line. Alphabet Mat Practice (trace over dotted letters) Copy and laminate Students can keep it in their own trays Alphabet Mat Can be laminated and blu tac to the wall in the writing/reading/book corner. Can be used to assess a student’s phonic progress - name and sound out the letters Alphabet Pictures Games The pictures represent the start of a letter e.g. ‘g’ for grasshopper. The pictures are not in alphabetical order so students have to look for the picture that begins with that letter. Enlarge the A4 size sheet to A3 and the sheet with the alphabet. Laminate the Alphabet Pictures sheet Laminate the Alphabet sheet then cut out each letter tile for use with Alphabet Pictures. Students can play in pairs. A timer can be set to make the game more fun. A student asks his/her partner to find the picture beginning with ‘s’. This resource contains a variety of Valentine’s Day theme worksheets and flash cards relating to emotions and feelings. Students can review different kinds of emotions and increase their vocabulary. You can differentiate the activities. For example, students can match words to facial emotions and/or match faces that are the same. They can play matching games with the cards once they are laminated and cut apart. You can prepare cards for write the room activity and print out the worksheets. Place the cards that match the pictures on the worksheets around the classroom for students to walk round and find the matching picture card and then write the emotion opposite the correct picture on their worksheet. This resource relates to statistics on the topic of dot plots. It introduces dot plots on PowerPoint (12 Slides). The presentation demonstrates how the data was collected, rearranging data in numerical order, and presenting the data on a frequency table. Using the information on the frequency table, students are shown how to create a dot plot/line plot via Slide Show animation. Two detailed examples are shown. Content: • PowerPoint Presentation (12 Slides) • 1 Flexible Lesson Plan (1- 2 hrs) • 2 Sets of worksheets (4pgs) • 1 ready-made project sheet for students to survey their table group • 1 project sheet example Flexible Lesson Plan (4 pgs) The plan includes a lesson starter on adding two-digit numbers together. The method is adding the tens numbers first and then counting on the ones for quick mental addition. (If you wish, you can choose your own mental starters). Also includes lesson objectives, main activities on dot plots and recap session. Presentation slides are referred to and there are suggested questions you might want to ask your students. PowerPoint Presentation The presentation explains a dot plot and then looks at two examples from capturing the raw data, presenting them in frequency tables, and then creating dot plots. Case study 1: Students are shown how Mr Smith creates a dot plot from data how long it takes his staff to travel to school. Case study 2: Students are shown how Miss Tucker creates a dot plot to see how many siblings each of her students have. Independent Practice Worksheet 1 (2pgs): Selling Cupcakes Page 1 - Students read a very short paragraph in order to insert the information in a frequency table and then they create a dot plot. Page 2 – Students interpret the dot plot by answering 8 questions. Worksheet 2 (2pgs): How Many Minutes to Eat Lunch Page 1 - Students read the data on the frequency table to complete a dot plot. Page 2 - Students answer 9 questions about the dot plot. Answer sheets included. Early finishers/Extra work Project sheet: In their groups, student carry out a small survey on how many siblings each person in their group has. The students complete the ready-made sheet and then create a dot plot. An example sheet is included.
