I created this revision guide in response to some of my less able students so that we can go through it together and as an additional resource during lesson time. I made this resources as an end of term/wind down activity for KS3 classes to complete. It has a mix of geography themed activities such as a keyword word search using the ecosystems topic, guess the countries based off of pictures provided, a grid reference and flag task and a geography scattergory task to get students thinking. Activities are suitable for KS3 and use map skills, keywords, general world knowledge and some topic knowledge (ecosystems). This work booklet is designed to get students critically thinking about fieldwork design. There is a bigger focus within this booklet towards river and urban investigations but it is relevant for general fieldwork too. Students will look at the difference between qualitative and quantitative data and methods of how to collect each. Students will look at different sampling methods and identify which sampling method has been used in different examples given. Students will then calculate the mean, median, mode and range for examples given. Students will also be introduced to the meaning of anomalies and why they might occur. In addition students will think about risks for two different types of investigation (river and urban) and how they can be overcome. Once students have worked through the technical stuff they will be given investigations with the hypothesis, equipment and methods use. Students will critically analyse the investigations with prompts given to guide students answers.
