9-1 Learning Journey Overview WHOLE COURSE

(0)
Attached are the learning journeys for the AQA Sociology GCSE whole course. I was asked to create these by a customer who had downloaded some of my lessons and wanted to use them for the whole course. These are printed and stuck into the students books at the start of each topic. You can edit and tweak these to suit your own course. They are great, not only at the start of the topic area, but provide students with a revision checklist. Students can cross out/highlight lesson areas when they have revised them. I will eventually add all of the units to accompany these learning journeys. Introduction to sociology, education and social stratification can be found in my shop. Introduction to Sociology Research Methods (mini unit) Paper 1- Families Paper 1- Education Paper 2- Social Stratification Paper 2- Crime & Deviance

Students then decide on dealbreakers, and touch on domestic violence (aimed at Year 7 so didn’t want to make it too much).

New Spec Sociology Knowledge Organiser- Research Methods

(0)
A knowledge organiser prepared for the AQA New Spec, but can suit any . Whilst we know Studying Society no longer exists as a separate topic, we have opted to teach a mini research methods unit (soon to be uploaded) after the introduction. This means students have an awareness of the methods and can then feed it into the other units. This is the knowledge organiser for the mini unit. If you download please leave a review.

AQA Social Stratification- The Welfare State (11/15)
SquishyResourcesSquishyResources

AQA Social Stratification- The Welfare State (11/15)

(0)
Planned for 9-1 AQA specification. This lesson can take 2 hours (double lesson) if you watch the documentary. Students complete an information sheet on what the Welfare State introduced after the war. They then look at New Right, Centre-Left, Marxist and Feminist perspectives on welfare. There are some extension questions for those who complete this. There is then a documentary about the benefits cap. The idea is to offer this as a possible solution, but for students to think about the implications of this. This documentary is not essential for the course, but it is a nice way for students to think about alternatives to the welfare state, or to consider if the welfare state is a worthwhile investment with taxation.

Project- Pay it Forward

Project- Pay it Forward

(0)
A great project that centres around the film Pay it Forward (not essential to watch, but makes for nice class discussions and gives them ideas). We usually do this around April to coincide with the global Pay it Forward Day. But can be done at any time of the year and would be particularly nice in the run up to Christmas. Project- Wall:E

Project- Wall:E

(0)
Centres around the film Wall:E. As most children have seen this you probably won’t need to show the whole film (but is nice if you have a reward afternoon). The idea of the project is for the students to become advocates of something that will help the world and to create a campaign to stop it from happening e.g. preventing litter in school, raising awareness about water use.
