A lesson that looks at longitudinal studies with a focus on the series seven Up! Students read through a resource and consider why this study is useful before learning about what a longitudinal study is. There is the option to show them the documentary, with some comprehension style questions. The end activity in a knowledge retrieval quiz which is part of the scheme of work.

A lesson that looks at ethical issues, covers experiments in light of what ethical issues they pose and why they are rarely used in Sociological research followed by a consolidation task in which students evaluate all of the research methods covered in the unit. Lesson 10 on AQA 9-1 Specification Crime & Deviance This lesson looks at why there is a difference between the social classes and their involvement in crime. There is a 45 minute documentary link attached to one of the slides, that is not essential but a good alternative.

This is a double lesson if the whole of the documentary is watched. The lesson combines looking at the changing relationship between parents and their children, and the relationships with the wider family. 4 mark exam question to finish.

Lesson 4 on AQA 9-1 Specification Crime & Deviance This lesson looks at the functions of crime based on the Functionalist perspective. I have found video clips to support each of the functions of crime. Students also complete a gap filler and differentiated exam questions Please leave a review

A new unit of work using the PSHE association mapping structure for the new 2020 Relationship, Sex and Health Education area. This unit is aimed at Year 7. But suitable for any KS3 group. This lesson looks at having a healthy mindset. It looks at fixed and growth mindset examples and uses David Beckham as an example. Included is the progress checkpoint that we complete every 6 lessons, this may suit your assessment schedule as a mini-mid unit assessment. Students complete this as a low-stake, open book assessment where they can see if their notes are of a good enough quality.

We had time at the end of term to show the full film of Juno. We used this to teach students about pregnancy, but about the varying choices if a student was to find themselves, or their partner, pregnant. Students watch the film, discuss and create a leaflet. I can identify how to avoid dangerous online situations I can inform students in Year 6 how to stay safe online Aimed at KS3, particularly Year 7. Lesson is 100 minutes long. Lesson doesn’t require any printing so is suitable for non-specialists and online learning.

Lesson 6 looks at vaping and smoking. The lesson briefly looks at the ingredients of a cigarette and an e-cig and considers if vaping is a gateway to smoking or other drug use. Students look at second-hand smoke and then write a letter or newspaper article offering advice.
