This is a mini research unit that will be taught ahead of the units (after the introduction unit). It should take approximately 11 lessons to go through the basic research methods. I am aware this is no longer necessary to be taught as an explicit unit, however we feel they need the basic knowledge to be able to answer the questions in the different units. The homework task refers to a knowledge organiser than can be bought in my store. However, the homework task can be completed without it. It’s just our departmental push on the use of them throughout the unit. Lesson 3- Looking at Primary, Secondary, Qual & Quan data. Considering how studies are peer reviewed and evaluated. Level 1/2 Technical Award in Child Development and Care in the Early Years New for teaching in September 2022 (NCFE/CACHE Childcare) One lesson on planning that covers CA9. As this is covered in CA8, this is just an overview of the planning cycle with lots of examples and practice.

AQA New Specification 9-1- Lesson 6- Looking at deschooling, home-schooling and Summerhill School.

Planned to be delivered to students studying the AQA Specification A, but easily adapted for other exam boards. I have planned all content to be delivered during an intensive Easter School session, in which the aim is for students to understand the main content of the exam. There is a revision checklist, and some exam answer structure support included at the end of the powerpoint. Also suitable for a school VLE.

New AQA Specification 9-1. Lesson looking at how we measure educational success in the UK. Looking at the 1988 Education Reform Act, SATS, GCSEs, Progress 8 and A-Levels.

AQA New Specification 9-1- Lesson 3- Consolidation looking at Functionalist, Marxist and Feminist Perspectives. Ideal for Y11 revision, or to leave as cover. My group needed this as they struggled with the key perspectives.

AQA New Specification 9-1- Lesson5 School Diversity. I used this lesson as an opportunity to get the students to work in groups to produce either a presentation on sugar paper, a power point presentation or a presentation using the Ipads. It worked really well and I actually got some great display material from it. Alternatively it’s great as a homework activity.

New Spec 9-1 This lesson looks at an overview of the Marxist approach to the Families (assuming students have a basic understanding of Marxism from an introductory unit). The lesson also focuses on the Key Thinker Eli Zaretsky.

Observations: Participant/Non-Participant, Cover/Overt, Hawthorne Effect, Geoff Pearson Football Hooliganism. Lesson could take 2 hours if you use the documentary(ies) in full, links shared at the end as not used in the lesson. Students observe a clib from CBB and then attempt to write a report to highlight the difficulty with observations. Read resource and complete worksheet and then create their own observation. New Spec 9-1 This lesson looks as canalisation, gender socialisation and the key thinkers Delphy & Leonard.

This lesson compares 1950s to 2000s households. Looks at Elizabeth Botts conjugal roles with a considersation of her sample size and if this is a generalisable study. Lesson also uses Talcott Parsons “roles” as an alternative viewpoint. Students then plan their own research into conjugal roles.

Lesson 5 in a Personal Finance KS4 Unit.

New AQA 9-1 specification. A consolidation lesson looking at educational achievement. Internal/external factors, gender, ethnicity and social class. Students use their own book notes to complete an A3 worksheet, but a help sheet is provided if students have missed lessons and require some support. A selection of 12 mark questions are used if students complete. Ideal as a cover lesson, homework task, consolidation lesson before assessment or revision for Y11 before their exam.

New Spec 9-1. Included is the progress checkpoint that we complete every 6 lessons, this may suit your assessment schedule as a mini-mid unit assessment. Students complete this as a low-stake, open book assessment where they can see if their notes are of a good enough quality. The feedback lesson includes a whole-class feedback slide, and both 4 mark questions have a model answer. The students highlight and mark this answer, identifying how it is a good answer. They then attempt a new 4 mark question acting on their feedback.

Aimed at the new 9-1 spec AQA, but suitable for any exam board by tweaking a couple of slides. Lesson looks at what to expect in the exam, how to tackle a 12 mark question, what is sociology, how is it different to psychology and journalism, and an activity to focus on the key concepts of culture, norms and values. The lesson aims to set Y10 students up ready for the GCSE. BTEC National Level 3 Unit 1 Exam This lesson covers Gesell’s maturation theory, Bandura’s Social Learning Theory and the Stress-diathesis model.

New Spec- 9-1 This lesson looks at an introduction to Functionalist viewpoint on the nuclear family by looking at the work of G.P Murdock. Students look at the four functions of the nuclear family. Next lesson will be Parsons. If you download please review.
