to encourage the use of the correct language and the basic understanding of the basic concepts I made this activity which has worked well with several classes. There is plenty of opportunity for discussion and sharing of what students know. The Notebook was used to create the images which can be printed out onto individual sheets. Then use the LO Label to "Choose one of the diagrams of red and green balls. Then glue it underneath this sticker and then write as much as you can about that diagram using the language on the prompt cards." Afterwards use the WS with the class. Use the BallsQuestion.PPTx to go through the answers. Get several students to each write their answers on the powerpoint (on the IWB)

Square Numbers. Understand and be able to use the associated language. Maze Fun Activity End of Term

A bundle of worksheets for mastering the language and knowledge of squaring and square numbers...Then....a bonus of a maze worksheet where students have to find their way through a maze using a path of only square numbers. This is a top quality way to engage and amuse the students - particularly in afternoon lessons or at the end of the term. Once they have got the idea with the smaller maze they can attempt the bigger one - this will keep them busy for hours! (well most of the lesson with any luck). If you like this then please check out my many other Maths activities listed on my TES Resources shop and pages including many Premium resources which may be able to save you lots of time and give you some useful ideas. If you find this helpful then please do leave a constructive review so that others can benefit from your experience. Thank you.

100 Random Numbers for Number Properties Posters Display Primes Squares Factors Resource Bundle

I've often needed to display random numbers on the board so have created some powerpoints to do this. there is one which contains any of the first 100. The other two contain just up to 36 which is useful for learning about factors, etc. I have printed out the first 100 numbers on A4 before and then given each student one of the sheets to decorate and make a poster about that number as a review after studying number properties. To help them do this there are mix of help info sheets. There is also a worksheet of discussing the first 20 numbers and their properties.

Set of cards for sharing out to the whole class. They work out the answers for their cards. You show the PowerPoint which gives the prompts and the students have to hand back their cards as theirs come up. Pretty simple but the kids love it. It wouldn't take much to edit the cards docx to turn it into a back up worksheet so that something can be put into their book.

Algebra Linear Graphs Dancing Aerobics Super Fun Activity

"When the equation appears, make the shape of the graph with your arms, body and or legs and if the graph is raised up (translation) then jump up. If it is a translation down then crouch down." There are three versions of the PPT with different ways of presenting the graphs. This is not my original idea. I first saw it done with quadratic and other curved graphs. I just adapted the idea to make resources to only show linear graphs. You'll find the quadratic graph dancing routine on another contributors resources. This is a huge amount of fun for the class. You can lead them from the front at first, but very soon they can lead and even choreograph their own routines.. Hence the story board for them to plan their routines. Then get them to choose their own music and video their routines. Awesome! (Does fill up a lot of time though which is rarely justified)

The rabbits WS asks some questions like if there are 2x rabbits today and x leave the burrow how many are left. etc. The Mini Questions are a simple starter for students to put into algebra some simple expressions. The PPT can be used to show the possible answers for them to choose from if you need it. The starter.docx is a simple starter to get them thinking about different expressions. The PPTx is the answers. Explain These PPTx is a great starter to check understanding of different similar expressions like 4x and x^4. My AlgebraicExpressions is a nice intro resource for expressions. I used this by showing each slide one by one and getting the class to all write what they think the solutions are on their whiteboards. After playing this the worksheet is used to back it up into their exercise books.
