This lesson covers the GCSE AQA Specification for Buddhism. Each lesson contains a starter, plenary, one or more activity, literacy and homework suggestions. I teach them at speed in 50 minutes but I suggest taking the full 55-60 minutes if possible. Some lessons have slightly more content than others and this can be spread out according to your teaching schedule. All the folders are labelled in order for download but for added clarity the suggested order for the lessons is as follows. Lesson 1 - Buddhist worship Lesson 2 - Samatha Meditation Lesson 3 - Vipassana Meditation Lesson 4 – Visualisation Lesson 5 – Death and Mourning Ceremonies Lesson 6 – Wesak and Parinirvana Day Lesson 7 – Kamma (Karma) Lesson 8 – Compassion (Karuna) Lesson 9 – Loving Kindness (Metta) Lesson 10 – The five moral precepts Lesson 11- (to complete the course you will want to look at the six perfections with students - my students do this by making a poster) GCSE AQA These lessons should be supplemented with photocopies of relevant sections of the AQA Buddhism textbook or students will have a book themselves. Trigger warning - this lesson does refer to the self-immolation of Buddhist monks in protest of Tibetan occupation.
