Enjoy some fun Maths activities by engaging the children with the World Cup 2022. The country of Qatar is getting ready for 2022, so why shouldn’t we? A mathematical activity to engage children with converting units of measure (World Cup Theme). Lesson Plan included.
Familiarise the children with the layout of the stadiums. Children must measure the distance between a letter and a stadium. Then because 1cm=35 minutes, they must then calculate how long it would take to get to said stadium.
For example:
How long will it take A to get to Lusail stadium?
Using your ruler, measure the distance from A to Lusail stadium.
If it’s 7.6 cm- round to the nearest whole number which is 8cm.
1cm = 35 minutes so 35 x 8 = 280 minutes =4 hours 40 minutes
Children must then fill in a table with their findings. A fun activity for the whole class.
Please let me know what you and your class thought of this resource- I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
I have included a map of Qatar with the football stadiums.
3 weeks of Art planning based on the Rainforest and the paintings of Henri Rousseau. Children are taught to appreciate his art as well as create their own version of 'Surprise'.
COMPREHENSION BASED ON THE SONG ‘This is me’ FROM THE MOVIE THE GREATEST SHOWMAN.
SOme inference questions based off this song because:
It’s something different
We all love the song!
The children loved listening to the lyrics and try to understand/deduct what the meaning was behind the lyrics.
Word Document and PDF included of Verse 1 and Verse 2.
A week's worth of planning focusing on 2D shape. The planning is extremely detailed and well differentiated to ensure each learner can access the content.
It involves fun lessons that can be carried out outside (weather permitted) and also introduces children to irregular shapes also. The week is full activities that contain lots of useful, topical Mathematical language, while encouraging children to explain 'why'.
My Year 1 class thoroughly enjoyed these lessons.

I used this as a class assembly this week and have made the necessary changes to the script that I made throughout rehearsals.
This script shows what we learned as a class through story-telling and acting out the myth of Icarus and Daedalus and the legend of the Loch Ness monster. (Scottish Accents included).
It is done in the form of Myths and Legends X Factor with judges and a presenter.
Both parents and children adored it.
Chapter 1 of the BFG with comprehension questions. My class love the BFG so I decided to create a comprehension on each chapter.
Looks at deducing, inferring and spotting similes.
A fun lesson which allows children to practically lay out the distance from each planet to the sun by using toilet paper. It is a whole class activity, and it allows children to see what each distance looks like in a creative way.
Learning from the previous lesson is reinforced also.
A weeks lesson plan introducing children to non-chronological reports. Speaking and Listening is incorporated into these lessons also by allowing children to pretend they are news reporters. Children will be taught how to 'hook' their readers in and write in factual sentences.
I created this playscript for my Year 5 class to perform this year. We spent a number of weeks on persuasive writing, so I thought it would be a fantastic way to show off the techniques they had learned in persuasive techniques.
I based it around the TV show Dragon's Den. The Assembly has 4 dragons in which the contestants must persuade to buy their products using persuasive techniques. There is a narrator role also, which explains what's going on throughout the play.
This playscipt is easy to adapt and was really funny to watch as well as show off what the children had learned.

This is a busy opening lesson on Earth, Moon and Sun topic. It requires the sorting of the scientific vocabulary as well as an interesting insight into the topic. This resource includes a presentation, plan and differentiated activity.
In this topic, children will need to know two different models of the solar system: The geocentric model and the heliocentric model.
Included:
*A detailed lesson plan.
*An informative Power Point presentation to be used alongside the lesson.
*A prior and post lesson assessment to check for understanding.
*Role play labels to ensure children understand the positioning of the planets in this model.
*Preview of this product to inform you how I use some of these resources.
Please leave a review to let me know how you and your class got on with this resource.
Week 2
This lesson begins by recapping what was learned in lesson 1 (also uploaded). This lesson is based on why the Vikings had such a bad reputation. Children will learn why people thought that the Vikings were only bad, and also look at sources of information that say this.
The package includes a lesson plan, activity resource and a presentation.
***A 20 PAGE MENTAL MATHS SUPPORT BOOKLET***
This is a booklet I created to support a year 3 child with their mental maths. I am a private tutor and a class teacher so I like to have 'go to' booklets and resources to use for my tutoring sessions.
This booklet is aimed to bring a year 3 child up to speed with mental maths for term 1. However, it's a good starting point for any child in KS2 who is not confident in their mental maths.
The objectives covered in this booklet are:
Use place value and number facts to add and subtract numbers
Subtract by counting up
Learn to count in 3’s and 4’s and know the 3x and 4x table.
Add and subtract any two digit numbers by counting on in 10s and 1s or by using partitioning
Perform place value subtractions without a struggle (536-30=506)
Know multiples of 10 with a total of 100
Know pairs with each total to 20

Short multiplication game for year 3/4. This resource has differentiated games for high, middle and low ability. The game is explained on the sheet and all you will need is a dice between each pair.
Philosophy 4 Children is being taught across the UK to teach children fundamental skills such as:
critical thinking.
reasoning skills.
empathy.
team work.
In this pack, I have included:
Philosophy Display Cards
Philosophy lesson plan: recycling
Philosophy lesson plan: friendships
Philosophy Powerpoint: recycling
Philosophy Powerpoint: friendships
A document on how to teach philosophy.
I have been teaching Philosophy lessons for a whole term now and the difference it has made in children’s problem solving skills in friendship issues, aswell as mathematical problems is amazing!
We spend an hour a week on P4C and it’s the children’s favourite lesson. Some of them have come out with some cracking conclusions too:
“Crying is an expression of your truest emotions. The body takes over from the mind”. I mean WOW!
This game involves asking the children to roll a dice and read the sound that their counter lands on. When they read the sound, they must think of a word that this sound is in. I played it in mixed ability pairs, the low ability children just had to try and read the sound. It was a lot of fun and they loved it.
It contains diagraphs, triagraphs, split diiagraphs and single sound letters for a thorough revision.
The Heliocentric Model- this lesson teaches children about another model of the Solar System in which was believed by another Ancient Scientist.
This lesson requires children to make a jigsaw of the model and figure out which planets have been included/left out. There is also an aspect of role play, for children to act as the planets rotating around the sun.
Included:
*A powerpoint presentation
*A jigsaw activity where children re-make the heliocentric model.
*A detailed lesson plan.
*True and false statements to sort.
It is a follow on lesson from others in which I have uploaded but can be taught as a stand alone lesson also.

This resource consists of a history and geography lesson on the Romans. It is the first week in each subject on the topic of the Romans.
In History, the children will be thinking about the term history and what it means. They will then discuss and fill in a KWL chart based on the Romans, which is a nice little assessment tool. The children will fill in what they Know about the ROmans and what they Want to know about the Romans. This provides an interest into the topic and children will hope to have their curiosities answered by the end of the topic. The L section of the KWL will be left until the end of the topic where children will fill out what they have Learned.
In Geography, the children will be looking at which countries were occupied by the Roman Empire. This lesson looks at using compass skills and atlas work also, which is a great geographical skill in itself.
This resource comes with both a history and geography plan, along with two separate presentations to use in the lesson. They are saved as notebooks. If you do not have notebook viewer on your computer you can download it for free online so that you can avail of these presentations.
KWL and SEN resource included.
Please review this resource :)
Notebook presentation and lesson plan included. (If you do not have notebook on your computer, you can download Notebook viewer for free). http://notebook-interactive-viewer.software.informer.com/download/#downloading
This lesson is based on the discoveries of ancient scientists. It allows children the opportunity to research on specific areas of science and find out what and how they discovered what they did.
It also poses questions and allows children to think about what has not yet been discovered and what they would like to be discovered.

This is an extremely practical lesson that I used as an introduction to the topic of Ancient Scientists. Children need to carry out experiments that represent different types of research. In one of the experiments, children need to taste chocolate, in another they need to test which ball floats the best etc.
This lesson introduces the different types of scientific research in a fun, practical way. My children really enjoyed this lesson and it was a fantastic introduction to the topic.
Notebook presentation and lesson plan included. (If you do not have notebook on your computer, you can download Notebook viewer for free). http://notebook-interactive-viewer.software.informer.com/download/#downloading
