WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION INTRODUCTION TO COLLECTION OF TERMS UNDER ADDITION

(0)
A complete lesson in a series of 4 lessons that will take foundation students through the art of simplifying expressions. This starts with simple collection of terms such as a + a + 3a and 2a +4 + a - 4. The powerpoint uses dials (animated) to count the items as the expression is walked through. The fully differentiated resource that accompanies starts with one star (multi-choice) and progresses through to 3 star which simplifies expressions involving squares and negatives which students always think involve changing the power. Answer not included

5 FOUNDATION MOCK EXAMINATION/REVISION PAPERS ON 2 PIECES OF A4

Five assessments that I use to help prepare foundation students (or younger students) for end of year assessments. Based on old GCSE foundation papers the assessments cover all of the content of the GCSE (around 20 questions in each). They are printed on 8 sheets of A4 which I copy onto an A5 booklet, hence using only 2 sheets of paper and saving a lot of paper. Great for use at extra sessions, as homeworks, as class revision, or for filler lessons for absent staff. I have included a powerpoint of the first assessment so you can see what they look like.

FOUNDATION REVISION HOMEWORK 1 and 2

Two homework books which can be printed off as a A5 booklet on a single sheet of A4 paper to test the foundation knowledge of your students. The powerpoint in the preview is the actual first booklet. The questions are things that students need to know. Can be used as a revision aid or at extra sessions in school.

OLD SPEC EDEXCEL CORE 3 REVISION LESSONS BY TOPIC

The 4 classic areas that students tend to be intimidated by in Core 3: modulus, exponential modelling, differentiation and reciprocated trig functions. Go through the powerpoints at the board and model the answers. Then give students the relevant worksheet (many differentiated) and let them work through. Answers not supplied throughout

QUICK FIRE FOUNDATION GCSE BASICS GRID 35 & 36

This is a write-on resource which can be used in multiple ways: as a classwork task, homework task, weekly assessment or revision aid in the run up to assessments. There are 18 quick, "must know" questions for low ability foundation GCSE students of any age. There is a section at the foot of the resource for a score and a comment which students can act upon. Using multiple resources will build up a profile of which topics students need to review to enhance their learning. The sheet can be edited to give an infinite number of variations too. Check out the other grids in the series to build a bank of resources! A low ability GCSE class will take around 25 minutes to complete a grid. The powerpoint is so you can see what a grid looks like when printed. It is not the same grid as the ones on the purchase, but a similar layout.

RATIO SIMPLIFICATION BINGO

18 random bingo cards with one guarateed winner. Play the powerpoint (which has two levels with answers that are common) and keep a note of which ratios have been given. These are simple, unit free ratios that involve dividing both numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5 10, 100. Great way to finish a lesson on simplification of ratio

Powerpoints that can be used as "walking-talking" mock examinations in preparation lessons for the students on the legacy Edexcel course. Go through the questions and model, or email to the students, or print them off and ask them to complete. Full range of topics covered; all based on old examination style questions

WHOLE LESSON: ANGLES ON A LINE AND AROUND A POINT

(0)
Classic missing angle lesson for younger students or foundation GCSE. The starter is a differentiated number problem. The powerpoint takes students through how to approach missing angle questions and shows some slightly more algebraic examples. The resource can be printed to an A4 booklet which allows students to write on the sheet (no more terrible diagrams in exercise books) and is fully differentiated
WHOLE LESSON PROPORTION FOUNDATION

WHOLE LESSON PROPORTION FOUNDATION

(1)
A whole fully differentiated lesson which introduces students to simple proportional problems such as "3 cakes cost £4.50, how much will 5 cost?" The powerpoint takes students through the unitary method. The fully differentiated resource (1 star, 2 star, 3 star) can be printed and students can write on the sheet. The resource contains a notes section which, when stuck in their books, gives them a reference. The students select which level of work they wish to work on. Answers are not supplied.
TWO WHOLE LESSONS FOUNDATION nth TERM
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

TWO WHOLE LESSONS FOUNDATION nth TERM

(1)
Two (and perhaps more) lessons on finding the nth term of a linear sequence for foundation students (an +b where a is positive). The starter is differentiated and is simple number patterns. The powerpoint talks through the concept of nth term by likening it to finding numbers behind a numbered door (the term number). In the second lesson the use of the nth term (on the same presentation) is used to generate terms. The spreadsheet contains many fully differentiated tasks (at least 4) which you can select from. Most of them are write on and allow students to get through the work at some pace. There are also multi-choice tasks. The lesson check out can be used at the end of the first lesson to asses the learning
