WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION DIVISION OF QUANTITY IN A RATIO

(0)
Whole lesson to low ability students on division in a ratio. The powerpoint contains several ways of teaching the topic but the resource that accompanies it goes with the traditional ADAM method (add, divide and multiply). The resource is fully differentiated and provides a lot of support with no context at 1 star, going through to fully contextualised questions with no support at 3 star. There is a multi choice homework that accompanies the lesson also.

OLD SPEC EDEXCEL CORE 3 REVISION LESSONS BY TOPIC

(0)
The 4 classic areas that students tend to be intimidated by in Core 3: modulus, exponential modelling, differentiation and reciprocated trig functions. Go through the powerpoints at the board and model the answers. Then give students the relevant worksheet (many differentiated) and let them work through. Answers not supplied throughout

WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION PROBABILITY OF SIMPLE EVENTS AS A FRACTION

(0)
Complete lesson: powerpoint to show how tow write the probability of an event as a fraction. The fully differentiated write-on resource goes from 1 star (simple shape questions with no reduction) through 2 star (more common context) to 3 star (problems involving simple conditional). There is also a multi-choice homework to accompany the lesson.

QUICK FIRE FOUNDATION GCSE BASICS GRID 35 & 36

(0)
This is a write-on resource which can be used in multiple ways: as a classwork task, homework task, weekly assessment or revision aid in the run up to assessments. There are 18 quick, "must know" questions for low ability foundation GCSE students of any age. There is a section at the foot of the resource for a score and a comment which students can act upon. Using multiple resources will build up a profile of which topics students need to review to enhance their learning. The sheet can be edited to give an infinite number of variations too. Check out the other grids in the series to build a bank of resources! A low ability GCSE class will take around 25 minutes to complete a grid. The powerpoint is so you can see what a grid looks like when printed. It is not the same grid as the ones on the purchase, but a similar layout.
WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION PROPORTION RECIPES
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION PROPORTION RECIPES

(0)
A full lesson on the classic examination question based on unitary proportion. The powerpoint takes students through how we can very simply change a recipe for 4 biscuits into a recipe for 8 biscuits and then evolves to see how we could perhaps change recipes for 6 into recipes for 8 by scaling down and then up. There are two resources to accompany the lesson, both of which are fully differentiated and, when printed in A4 booklet form, allow the students to write on, including their working. Answers not supplied and the recipes are not real! I usually finish this lesson with the Maths 4 Real video with Ben Shepherd (although I cannot include this video as I do not own it)
WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION PROPORTION BEST BUYS
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON FOUNDATION PROPORTION BEST BUYS

Complete lesson on value for money, a very frequently examined topic. Powerpoint takes students through how we look at three deals and scale up or down to ensure that we have bought the same amount in each place, allowing a comparison to be made. The resource follows the powerpoint and allows student to be fully supported from one star to three star. The sheets can be printed and written on, stuck in students' books to allow a reference to their learning

A2 MATHEMATICS: APPLICATIONS OF IMPLICIT DIFFERENTIATION

(0)
Complete lesson which builds upon the introduction. Students will be shown how to use their expressions for the derivative function to find stationary points, name tangents and normals. The resource is fully differentiated, contains an exam question and a challenge. Answers are included.
A2 MATHEMATICS: INTRODUCTION TO IMPLICIT DIFFERENTIATION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

A2 MATHEMATICS: INTRODUCTION TO IMPLICIT DIFFERENTIATION

(0)
Complete lesson that introduces students to the art of finding the derivative of a function defined implicitly. The powerpoint explains the difference between explict and implicit functions and then shows students how, by applying the chain rule, we can differentiate any expression. The lesson sheet that accompanies it is fully differentiated, contains an exam question and a challenge question. The answers are included.

DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS LESSON 1

(0)
A whole lesson (powerpoint and resource) that will introduce students in Year 13 to solve differential equations by separating the variables. The powerpoint takes students through the process and the examples are printed with their solutions on the resource which is fully differentiated. The first level guides students through the process of solving and the second level lets them try the equations themselves. There is an examination question and there is a challenge. Answers to the exercise are not supplied

The lesson is a fully differentiated write on resource that reviews classifying angles, measuring angles, angle calculations (point, line, triangle, parallel). The other 3 documents are multi-choice revision which can be used as homeworks. Great for students working at grades 1/2/3
RATIO SIMPLIFICATION BINGO
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

RATIO SIMPLIFICATION BINGO

(0)
18 random bingo cards with one guarateed winner. Play the powerpoint (which has two levels with answers that are common) and keep a note of which ratios have been given. These are simple, unit free ratios that involve dividing both numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5 10, 100. Great way to finish a lesson on simplification of ratio

4 OLD SPEC EDEXCEL CORE 3 BOOSTER LESSON

(0)
Powerpoints that can be used as "walking-talking" mock examinations in preparation lessons for the students on the legacy Edexcel course. Go through the questions and model, or email to the students, or print them off and ask them to complete. Full range of topics covered; all based on old examination style questions
WHOLE LESSON; INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ANGLE OF POLYGON
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON; INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ANGLE OF POLYGON

(0)
This is a flexible lesson on the interior angle sum of an n-gon. The starter is a simple multi choice on estimation of angle size which will help warm the class up. The powerpoint contains both classic ways of teaching this subject: the first few slides come at this from the formula exterior angle = 360 divided by the number of sides when the polygon is regular. The latter slides approach it in a more traditional experimental manner of splitting the polygon into n- 2 triangles. How you deliver the lesson is therefore up to you! The spreadsheet contains multiple activities, most of them differentiated and a print out of a table of facts that students can stick in their books. Most of the resources are write on also so there is no need for students to draw a thing. This should be all you need to tackle this topic
WHOLE LESSON: CLASSIFY AND ESTIMATE ANGLES
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: CLASSIFY AND ESTIMATE ANGLES

(0)
An entire lesson that gets students to appreciate the different types of angle and estimate their size. The starter is a simple (differentiated) number chain. The power point is fully animated to show how an angle spins around from 0 degrees, passing the key benchmarks of 90, 180 and 270. Students can then estimate the angle. The fully differentiated resource that accompanies this lesson mirrors the board and gives students plenty of support. As this is an activity some students will fly through I have included some bonus differentiated number practise as this will primarily be aimed at foundatio GCSE students who always need the practise!
INTEGRATION BY PARTS INTRODUCTION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

INTEGRATION BY PARTS INTRODUCTION

(0)
An entire lesson that introduces students to this vital integration technique. It is approached via an easy way of remembering how to split the integral (the way I myself was taught it many years ago). The resources that accompanies the lesson is differentiated on two levels and takes students through basic examples. There are no answers as students are encouraged to check their own answers. There is an exam question and a challenge question
