I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Tetris 2 - Angles in Shapes - Worksheet

(3)
The designers of the classic game Tetris want to produce a more difficult version of the game. Can you help decide which shapes will fit together with no gaps? This is centred around interior angles of regular shapes and tessellation.

Binomial Expansion Codebreakers

There are two codebreakers, each furnished with a terrible joke. The first deals with positive powers only, the second deals with fractional and negative powers. Designed for a quick homework or plenary.

Worded Equations Codebreaker

A colleague asked me if I had any worded equations problems (form and solve etc); I didn’t but I do now. The joke is one of my favourites. Enjoy!

Clumsy Clive On Proportion

Clive is making silly mistakes again and it is down to your class to spot, correct and explain where he's gone wrong. This is designed to create discussion between students and teacher. This could be used as a plenary or a revision task.

Chocolate based inequality problems - 6 in all. Display on the board and discuss is how I envisage it working but you may have other ideas. I must thank Deborah @MrsMathia for the logo and initial inspiration!

Clumsy Clive On Inequalities

(5)
Clive has struggled on his inequalities homework. You need to go through the questions including inequalities on a number line, solving inequalities, listing integers and shading regions and explain to him what he's done wrong. Designed to create discussion.

Recognising Graphs

(4)
A PowerPoint with three graphs drawn on each of 8 slides of increasing challenge, moving from linear through to quadratics, cubics, reciprocals and exponential graphs. On each slide there are equations to match to each graph plus extra equations so that it adds more challenge; there is a blank grid so that the equations that don’t match can be sketched.

Clumsy Clive On Tree Diagrams

Clive is attempting to get to grips with tree diagrams, but he is making mistakes again. Please check his work, correct it and explain what he’s done wrong. Designed to create mathematical discussion.
Clumsy Clive On Fractions

Clumsy Clive On Fractions

(5)
Clive is getting confused with fractions, fraction of an amount, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. This designed to get students to explain their reasoning and should encourage discussion.
Introduction to Quadratic and Cubic Sequences

Introduction to Quadratic and Cubic Sequences

(4)
This is designed to lead on from finding nth terms of arithmetic sequences, getting students to spot a relationship from square and cube numbers. There are 4 sections each of increasing difficulty plus an extension task. This is not "superheroes" etc but should lead to nice discussions of "how do you know that?" and "how did you get that?".

Law and Order of Operations - Bidmas/Bodmas

(4)
The third installment of my US crime drama series, this time on order of operations. Weed out the criminals (who are terrible at Bidmas) by checking their answers to a question set by Lieutenant Olivia Benson. As with others the worksheets aren't necessary unless you are that way inclined. It could be used as a non-calculator or as an exercise in using the calculator properly.

Properties of 3D Shapes Codebreaker

(4)
The normal lame joke (written by my 9 year old daughter this time) but covering 3D shapes and their properties: edges, vertices, faces. Designed to be used as a starter, plenary, discussion item, quick homework.

What Was The Question? - Sets and Venn Diagrams Special

(9)
Four sets of four problems where students have the answer but there are blanks in the questions which require filling in. This is designed to create discussion in class and hopefully provided natural differentiation. I will be using these as starters or plenaries as I believe they will develop deeper understanding of topics, but feel free to use them as you like (you will whatever I say).

Clumsy Clive On Ratio

This was an idea I had in on the way to work one morning - Clive makes mistakes on his homework and you need to correct them, explaining the mistake he's made in each case. I intend to use this as a plenary or starter to check learning etc. They should create discussion too. There are 5 different mistakes to correct.
Clumsy Clive On Surds

Clumsy Clive On Surds

(6)
Clive is struggling with surds this time. He has made mistakes when simplifying, expanding brackets and rationalising the denominator. Your (your students') job is to correct and explain what he's done wrong. This worksheet is designed to create discussion in class between students themeselves and teacher.
