Information created for easy access for pupils to gain an understanding of the causes, effects and adaptations to drought.
It is designed to allow pupils to work independently (in small groups) to create their own news broadcast role play.

Pupils makes notes on the information. A mindmap works well with 3 branches (causes, effects & responses).
Once notes are done, they then create their news broadcast.

A great activity that uses the middle earth lord of the rings & hobbit base map to allow students to firstly describe a pre-plotted journey and then to create their own journey.
The journey is divided up into kilometer sections to make understanding scale more straight forward.

A geography skills games used to teach grid references in the form of the battleships game.
Each slide of the powerpoint is the teachers turn. This means that no cheating can take place.
Pupils use the blank grid to draw on their ships and marks off eack of the teachers turns (which is also shown on the powerpoint).
Once the first player has all of their ships sunk, the teacher loses.
Each student takes it in turn to read out their coordinates to try and sink the teachers ship.
A single hit sinks the entire ship.
It works incredibly well for all age groups.

A letter outline that gives some ideas and structure as to how to construct a letter when making the transition to SLT.

A lesson that gets pupils to calculate their own carbon footprint based on a series of life style questions.
There are lots of on-line versions, but I wanted one that didn’t need any IT access.
Pupils create a pledge that demonstrates ways that they will try to reduce their own carbon footprint.
There is also a more complex GCSE style question that promotes an understanding of the global picture & why more developed countries would have a larger carbon footprint than developing countries. Or this may be set to change in relation to (often more costly) energy saving devices.
Used as part of the KS3 SOW.

A simple but effective lesson that provides students to create a verbal powerpoint relating to India. They can only add pictures. This moves away from kids reading lots of text from each slide.
Understanding is then tested in the T&F test.
A superb game that allows pupils to learn about the issues related to population in a fun, creative and engaging way.
This was used as part of our KS3 SOW.
Some coloured paperclips will be needed for the pupils to play this.
My pupils loved doing this diary of a refugee.
Promotes a wider understanding of the issues.
