Dr. H. Edwin Young, often called Ed Young, is the senior pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Pioneer of the multisite church. Broadcasting ministry is The Winning Walk. In 2016 launched Loving Kids with Bishop James Dixon, in Houston. Ed was born in Laurel, Jones County, southeastern Mississippi.His family was so poor he had no shoes until in third grade. He entered the university of Alabama with an engineering major. Half way through his freshman year he felt a call to the ministry and enrolled at Mississippi College in Clinton. He then went to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, Carolina. Ed was a pastor in both North and South Carolina until 1978. In 1978 he moved to his present church - South Baptist Houston. The average attendance grew from 500 to over 32,000 today, with a membership of 83,000. This happened though innovation and creativity. William Samuel Winston. also known as Dr. Bill Winston or Bill Winston is an American televangelist, preacher, author and entrepreneur. He is the founder and senior pastor of Living Word Christian Center, a non-denominational church in Forest park, Illinois with over 20,000 members. He is also the founder of Bill Winston Ministries (BWM), Faith Ministries Alliance (FMA), Bible Training Center,Joseph Business School and The Joseph Center. Bill was born on 6th May 1943 and raised in Tuskegee. He says he was inspired by the Tuckegee airmen and other local aviators. In 1967 he graduated from the Tuskee Institute and enlisted in the US Air Force (1967-73). He served as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam War. (JILCW) 1978 He is the founder of the Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM) which has more than 40 bishops from different Christian churches nationwide as members. Jack Leo Van Impe was an American televangelist know for his 30 minute weekly series Jack Van Impe Presents , an eschatological commentary on the news of the week through an interpretation of the Bible. The program was aired both religious broadcasters and the purchasing of paid programming time on commercial television stations. jack was know as the Walking Bible having memorized most of the king James version of the Bible. His wife, Rexella, was co-host on the television ministry. His parents were Belgium immigrants who had moved to Troy. Michigan in 1929 two years before he was born on 9th February 1931. Jack and his father Oscar played the accordion at night clubs. They enjoyed drinking alcoholic beverages together - a European tradition. When Jack was 12, in 1943, both his father and mother, Marie Louise, experienced a conversion experience. A week later Jack walked to the front of church to profess his own faith. Father and son smashed all their bottles of alcoholic beverages. He never drank alcohol again. Oscar became a missionary with a very strong faith and Jack decided to be an evangelist. Together they played their accordions across Michigan and other states. In 1948 Jack graduated from school and entered Detroit Bible institute. He earned his diploma in 1952 and began his career as a preacher, evangelist and extensive recording career. He worked with the Billy Graham crusades. At a Youth for Christ rally with Chuck Ohman he met his future wife, Rexella Mae Shelton. They married on 21st August 1954. In the 1950s he released dozens of Gospel and spoken word recordings. Charles Rozell Swindoll is an evangelical Christian pastor, author, educator and radio preacher. In 1979 he founded Insight for Living a radio program which today is broadcast on more than 2,000 stations around the world in 15 languages. In July 1994 he became President of Dallas Theological College (DTC)- he is now Chancellor. In 1998 he founded Stonebriar Community Church (SCC) in Frisco, Texas. He was born with a stutter and credits his drama teacher, Dick Niema, for helping him to manage it. While at school he was part of the marching band and learned to play all the instruments in the woodwind section. He fulfilled his military obligation with the US Marine Corps and played in their marching band. In 1959 he attended Dallas Theological Seminary. In 1963 he graduated magna cum laude Charles was ordained in 1963. He has held 4 pastorate roles. He spent 2 years in Dallas. 2 years in Waltham Massachusetts (1965-7). 4 years at Irving, Texas (1967-71). 23 years at Fullerton, California (1971-94). He started his current senior pastorate in Frisco, Texas in 1998. The roots for Insight for Living goes back to the summer of 1977 when his sermons from First Evangelical Free church in Fullerton were broadcast on the radio. Noel Jones is a Jamaican-American minister and a Pentecostal bishop. He is the senior pastor of City of Refuge Church in Gardena, California. Noel was born on the31st January, 1950 in Spanish Town, Saint Catherine , Jamaica. He was one of 7 children. His father was Bishop Robert - an Apostolic clergyman and politician and his mother was Marjorie Jones. One of his sisters is Grace Jones the actress and singer. In 1965 the family relocated to Syracuse, New York. Noel received the call to the ministry aged 19. He obtained a B.Sc, in Theology from Aenon Bible College. He later received an honorary doctoral degree from Life College and Seminary (then called International Circle of faith College). Aged 26 he accepted his first pastorate at Bethel Temple of Longview, Texas. June 1994, aged 44, he was chosen to succeed Bishop Robert W. McMurray as pastor at the Greater Bethany Community Church at 84th & Hoover Street in South Los Angeles. Between 1994- 2003 his congregation significantly grew from 1,000 towards 17,000 so a new building was acquired in Gardena, California. George Edward Vandeman (21 st. October 1916- 3rd November 2000) was a seventh-day adventist who founded the It is Written television ministry. He also founded the New Galley Centre in London. Aged 21 he attended Emmanuel Missionary College in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He found a job working at a weekly 15 minute radio broadcast in Elkkhart, Indiana. He married Nellie Johnson on 2nd October 1938. After completing his second year at college he began working as a full-time evangelist. In 1946 he received a MA from the University of Michigan in speech and communication. he was then ordained as a minister and worked for 4 years as a filed instructor in evangelism at Emmanuel Missionary College. In 1947 he became the associate secretary Ministerial Association at the General Conference. Aged 33 he beacme the youngest to work in Adventist church leadership. After WW11, along with other charismatic Adventist speakers, he spearheaded a drive for public evangelism in major cities like Pittsburgh (1948). Washington (1951) and London (1952). Back in 1946 he had been encouraged to try television as means of reaching others with the Gospel,. He did create a 6 month experimental evangelistic effort but due to lack of financial support it was put on hold. !0 years later, in the Spring of 1956***It Is Writtenwas launched. It was in black and white. Later it became one of the first religious programs in colour. Mark (b. 1945) is the former host and director of the weekly television show It Is Written (1991-2004) for which he travelled around the world as a televangelist. He was the first Seventh-day Adventist pastor to do a satellite evangelistic series. He best known for his association with Experience Hope a weekly broadcast on the Hope Channel. He has preached 17 NET series broadcasts throughout the world. He had written more than 70 books. He uses his preaching and evangelical gifts to teach others in seminars, field schools and evangelism institutes. On the 12th June 2020 members of the seventh -day Advent church were informed that he has a condition which could be termed pre-myeloma so he has been advised to cut down on activities, rest and limit his travel commitments. Billy Joe Daugherty was founder and pastor of Victory Christian Center (now Victory Church) in Tulsa. He was also the founder of Victory Christian School, Victory Bible institute and Victory World Missions training Center (now Victory College. Originally from Magnolia, Ark. , he attended Oral Roberts University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Christian education. He was youth pastor in the 1970s at Sheridan Christian Center and became senior pastor at the church in 1976, on retirement of the previous incumbent. 1980, when the attendance had grown from 300 to 2,000, he sought to relocate the church. The church leaders decided not to move so he started what is now the Victory Christian Centre. They meet briefly in a former car leadership building. In 1984 they moved into the vacant Thorau Junior High School. When that building was sold they moved to its present site at 7700 S. Lewis Av. and held services in the Mabee Centre across the road. 2007 they moved into its state of the art, £32 million, 5,000 seat Tulsa Dream Centre built without borrowing money. The same year Billy was named interim president of Oral Roberts University. As of January 2010 Victoria Christian Center reported average Sunday attendance of 9,612 and reported to be the second largest church in Tulsa. Victory’s bus ministry brings 1,000-2,000 children and teens from this area each Saturday for Kids Ministry and S.O.U.L. Youth Ministry. Billy’s daily radio and television broadcast Victory in Jesus reaches vast numbers of households across North America, as well as via satellite and internet internationally. Billy is an American Pentecostal healing evangelist and the president of his itinerant healing ministry, Billy Burke World Outreach, headquarters in Tampa Florida. He is also the senior pastor of the Miracle Centre World Outreach in Tampa. His healing ministry is founded on his testimony of being healed of terminal brain cancer when he was 9 years old by Kathryn Kuhlman. Billy was born on 24th May, 1953 in Greensburg. When he was 9 years old he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. After under going an unsuccessful operation which left him partially paralyzed and given 3 days to live, his grandmother removed him from the hospital against the doctors orders. She took him to a Kathryn Kuhlman healing service in First presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh. His grandmother constantly said,When she touches you , you will be healed They sat in the balcony among a couple of thousand people. With assistance from the ushers, young Billy was brought down to stand in front of her. As her hand reached for him,he remembered the words of his grandmother. Kathryn touched him and the cancer was gone! Billy grew up and drifted away but his grandmother and mother continued to pray for him. His wake up call came, aged 19, when his younger brother was killed by a drunk driver. Billy was devastated and a fresh awakening happened. He had a telephone call to give his testimony at Kathryn’s healing meeting in Youngstown. This was the beginning of a whole new life. He attended Melodyland School of Theology. His pastor there was a close friend of Kathryn, Pastor Ralph Wilkerson. After graduating he returned to Pittsburgh and started his ministry in Northeast. In 1989 he moved his ministry to Tampa. Kathryn Kuhlman was an American evangelist known for hosting healing services Kathryn was born near Concordia, Mississouri to German-American parents. Aged 14 she had a spiritual experience. Several years later she began an itinerant preaching with her elder sister and brother-in-law in Idaho. She was ordained by the evangelical Church Alliance. She secretly married Burroughs Waltrip, a divorce, a Texas evangelist, and 8 years her senior, on 18th October 1938. Kathryn called her husband ‘Mister’. The marriage failed and they divorced in 1948. Kathryn travelled extensively around the USA and many other countries ‘healing crusades’ between 1940s and 1970s. In the 1960s and 1970s she had a weekly TV program called*I Believe in Miracles. She also had a 30 minute nationwide radio ministry of teaching the Bible which included excerpts from her healing services. She made guest appearances on the 700 Club. An estimated 2,000,000 people reported they were healed during her meetings. In 1955, in her late 40s, she was diagnosed with a heart problem. Instead of holding fewer services she increased them. In July 1975 her doctor diagnosed her with a minor heart flare up. November she had a relapse. She had open heart surgery in Tulsa from which she died on 20th February 1976 For several decades there has been serious debate regarding the authenticity of her ministry. It is now a megachurch which each week has on average an attendance of 50,000. It was founded by Jose Rego on 20th December 1957 in Belo Horizonto, Minas Gerais in Brazil. On 31st July 1972, when Marcio was appointed the senior pastor/president, the church had 300 members. Andrew Lee Evans ( born Wilfred Andrew Lever Evans) was a Pentecostal Christian pastor in the Assemblies of God (AOG) and a former politician in the South Australian Legislative Council. He is most noted for pastoring for 30 years at Klemzig AOG, which became Paradise Community Church, and is now called Influences Church. As a politician he co-founded the conservative Family First Party. Andrew was born in India in 1935. His parents, Tom and Stella, were both missionaries. He studied for the Christian Ministry at the AOG Commonwealth Bible College in Brisbane (1958-60). He graduated with a diploma in theology and was ordained into the ministry in 1963. He served as a missionary for the AOG World Missions in the East Sepik province of Paupa New Guinea for 6 years (1963-9). In 1970 he became senior pastor of Klemzog AOG church in Adelaide. In 1982 it was relocated and called Paradise AOS. From 1977-1997 he served as the National Superintendent of the AOS in Australia. Andrew retired as senior pastor in 2000, after 30 years. Tim Hall is one pf Australia’s leading evangelists. Together with his wife, Jacque, they have ministered extensively throughout the world. Tim, aged 26, had his life ‘turned upside down’ in 1974. Peter Frederick Jensen is a retired Australian Anglican archbishop, theologian and academic Principal of Moore Theological College (1985-2001). Archbishop of Sydney and Metropolitan of the Province of New South Wales in the Anglican Church of Australia (2001-13). Founding member of Global Anglican Future Conference(GAFCON) (2007) and former General Secretary. Peter was born in Sydney, Australia on 11th July 1943. He was educated at Bellevue Hill public School and The Scots College. He studied law for 2 years and worked as an article clerk before teaching in a primary school. In the 1960s he entered Moore Theological College. He was ordained in the Anglican Church of Australia as a deacon in 1969 an as a priest in 1970. He was a curate at St. Barnabas, Broadway (1969-76). While at Oxford(1976-9), studying for his D.Phil, he was allowed to officiate in the Diocese. He has an MA (1976) from Sydney. BD from London and D. Phil from Oxford (1979 Peter lectured on systematic and biblical theology at Moore Theological College between (1973-6) and 1980-4). He was appointed principal (1985-2001 On 5th June 2001 Peter became the 11th Archbishop of Sydney. He gained a reputation as a gifted preacher. Frederick is the founder and presiding bishop of Crenshaw Christian Centre (CCC). located in South Los Angles, California. He is known for his Ever Increasing faith ministries broadcast - which is aired weekly on the radio and television He was born on 3rd January, 1932, in Santa Monica, California. When he started courting his high school sweetheart Betty Ruth Scott he began attending church services… They married in 1953. After they were married he stopped going to church. There was a week of old fashioned tent revivals in their town- Betty went first, he later joined her. He received Jesus as his personal saviour and soon after was born again. He felt the call to the ministry. He heard a voice say ‘You are going to preach my Gospel’. To begin with he carried on working as a paper cutter and being a part time assistant pastor in a Baptist church 1955-7. He struggled to define himself - served as pastor in 4 different Christian denominations. Losing his 8 year old son, Frederick 111, in 1962, killed by a car, did not help. On 28th February 1970, he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. and the evidence of speaking in tongue,he started considering starting his own ministry. He co- founded with his wife Betty, the Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC) in West Los Angeles, California. In November 1973 he moved to Inglewood, California. Robert G. Grant (b. 1936) is an ordained Baptist minister. He is considered by many as the ‘father’ of the Christian Rights in the USA. He founded the United Community Church of Glendale, California. He is also one of the founders of the California Graduate School of Theology. He also served as the chairman of the Christian Voice -'the nation’s oldest conservative Christian lobby and the American Freedom Coalition Robert earned 3 degrees BA in History BD , Dr,P and a diploma from St. Paul’s Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Robert is concerned about what he sees as moral decay in America. In 1974 he founded * American Christian Cause* in Southern California to fight against pornography and homosexual rights. Smith Wigglesworth was a British evangelist who was influential in the early history of Pentecostalism. Smith was born in Menston, Yorkshire on 8th June 1859 into an impoverished family. As a small child he worked in the fields pulling up turnips. He was illiterate. Nominally a Methodist aged 8 he became a born again Christian. His grandmother was a devout Methodist. His parents regularly took him to either a Methodist or Anglican church. He was confirmed by a Bishop in the Church of England. In the Baptist church he was baptized by immersion. He had grounding in Bible teaching in the Plymouth Brethren. He learned his trade of plumbing from a man in the Brethren movement On 4th December 1882 he married Polly Featherstone. Polly was a preacher with the Salvation Army and she taught Smith how to read the Bible - he said it was the only book he ever read. Smith and Polly evangelized together - she preached, he did the altar calls. Smith worked as a plumber until he was too busy preaching. In 1907 he experienced speaking in tongues. He believed his ministerial success was due to his speaking in tongues. He referred to himself as a conundrum. Language? -none. Inability- full of it The secret is that the Holy Ghost came and brought this wonderful edification of the Spirit. Polly died, unexpectedly, in 1913- she had been his light and joy. When she died he asked for a double of the Spirit. His daughter Alice and his son-in-law began to travel with him to handle his affairs. Smith ministered in many churches throughout Yorkshire. He also ministered in USA, Australia, New Zealand South Africa, Pacific Islands, India, Ceylon plus several European countries. He spoke at some of the Assemblies of God (AofG) events in G.B. He received ministerial credentials from the AofG in the USA where he evangelized from 1924-9. Hugh Latimer and Hicholas Ridley were burnt at the stake in Oxford on 16th October 1555 during the reign of Queen Mary ( 1553-8). In 1534 the Act of Supremacy was passed in England. It made Henry V111 head of the English Church instead of the Roman Catholic Pope in Rome. It was the beginning of the English Reformation. There was a rapid advance towards Protestantism after the accession of King Edward V1 Henry V111 was followed by Edward V1 1547-53,and Lady Jane Grey 1553 both protestants. Mary (1553-1558) was Roman Catholic and wanted the church in England to return to Roman Catholicism. Those in high places who opposed her were arrested for treason and some were martyred for heresy - refusing to subscribe to certain articles of faith such as the existence of purgatory an the need to venerate saints. Hugh Latimer had become the bishop of Worcester in 1535. Forced to resign his see in 1539. He popularized the idea of the reformation Nicholas Ridley was appointed bishop of Rochester. In 1550 he became bishop of London. he denied the doctrine of transubstantiation - that Christ’s natural body is present in the bread of the Eucharist after consecration.blood. The trial happened at the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin. They were imprisoned at the former Bocardo Prison. They were burnt at the stake just outside the city walls to the north, where Broad Street is now located. Latimer , at the stake is said to have immortalized himself by exhorting his fellow victim Ridley with these words - we shall this day light a candle, by God’s grace, in England as I trust shall never be put out If you visit Oxford a cross on Oxford’s Broad Street marks the site of the execution.
