Writing with Storyboards helps pupils to develop good story writing skills, and is especially useful for those who find it difficult to organise and plan their writing. Books 4 Kick the Ball and 5 Black Mask look at double final consonants and adjacent consonants respectively. Book 6 Fish and Chips looks at consonant digraphs, while Book 7 Kate’s Kite looks at split digraphs, words such as ‘make’, ‘cone’ and ‘fine’. The 4 Read, Find, Write books are ideal for the crucial stage when children start to segment and blend words and learn high-frequency words. The series is progressive, with Book 1 using short phrases and a small number of first words and Book 4 using sentences and 100 common words. The sheets have been successfully used with KS1 and 2 children, who really enjoyed using them. The graded books are suitable for all beginner readers. The straightforward layout and slow, steady progression make the books particularly suitable for children struggling with literacy, who can use the sheets independently. Little non-phonic writing is required and the clear, easy format enables independent working. Successfully used with older students struggling with phonics to help them to catch up or to give them a fresh start. Ideal for revision and homework and suitable for a wide age range. Book 1 concentrate on c-v-c words, double final consonants, sh and ch and the long vowels ai, ee, igh, oa and oo. Book 2 deal with the long vowel phonemes ar, or, ur, ow, oi, air and ear, plus adjacent consonants. The three Read and Think books encourage poor readers, especially older pupils, to read sentences and simple texts and understand what they read. Book 1 concentrates on short, simple sentences. Book 2 looks at short narrative and informative texts and includes timetables and a calendar. Book 3 deals with short and medium-length narrative and informative texts. In each of the three books, pupils must understand the sentences or texts they read in order to perform the tasks and this ensures text comprehension. The 25 sheets in each book contain a variety of tasks which appeal to a range of pupils, including older, poor readers. Pupils are encouraged to deduce, infer, and interpret information and events. These 3 books provide direct practice in the rules of grammar and enable pupils to use a range of punctuation correctly. First Stop covers the first, basic elements of punctuation: capital letters and full stops, uses of capitalisation and question marks. It is excellent for younger pupils and those with special needs and is suitable for a wide age range. Vocabulary is limited and the motivating tasks can be completed independently. Stop it! comprises a practical, ready- made supply of punctuation exercises and covers use of full stops, capital letters, apostrophes, speech marks etc. Stop it, Editor! covers similar areas to Stop it! but in a more editorial style. This book is full of tasks pupils enjoy, such as finding mistakes, marking and correcting texts. It is perfect to use alongside Stop it! as it consolidates skills using a different approach.

Each of the three books contains stories to improve sequencing and text comprehension. Book 1 has three-part texts to put in order, Book 2 four-part and Book 3 five-part texts. Each story has two versions: one with simpler text and more limited vocabulary, which is useful for less-confident readers. Suitable for KS1 plus older pupils with less-developed literacy skills. Previously available through Easylearn. Practical note: the easier version of each story has a top right-hand corner picture which includes a cat, the harder one features a dog. Stories are interchangeable and an easier and a harder version can be used at the same time within a group of children.
