Worksheet looking at 4 pictures depicting negative behaviour. Children write a sentence describing the action, then another describing what the consequence might be. Can be completed independently but a nice activity to complete in pairs. Picture sheet can be used for discussion activity.

A two part activity that requires pupils to identify the abstract verb n each sentence. They will then be given a choice of abstract verbs to use in sentences. A good activity for more able pupils to complete during grammar lessons on verbs.

Presentation contains link for noise pollution clip and asks children to discuss how it makes them feel. Explains different types of noise pollution and its effects. Moves onto air pollution causes and effects, finishing with a link to a video clip discussing the London Smog. I used the activity sheet for children to write down three effects of noise pollution. A fantastic reasoning activity that helps children improve their problem solving and ability to work systematically. The problem starts with 3 objects and moves on to four. There is also an opportunity for more able children to make predictions for 5 and 6 objects and then test their theories. Very able children may make connections such as once you find all the possibilities for one starting object, you can multiply this by the total number of objects for the number of possibilities altogether. Comprehension questions for chapter 11 and chapter 12 up to page 47 for Fantastic Mr Fox. Questions cover a range of reading skills and are differentiated for higher and lower. Each activity has 2 versions - a sticker version and a normal A4 plain paper version

A fantastic lesson that generated some great discussion about jobs and their salaries. The discussion was so rich in mine that it carried over two lessons. First children are given cards with different jobs (discuss any unfamiliar to children before starting). They are asked to rank them from most important to least important and give feedback on their answers. They are then asked to consider what they think the salary for each job might be and try to match these. The powerpoint then reveals the average salaries in descending order. This generates excellent discussion about whether this is fair, which jobs should earn less/more, are you surprised by any etc As a final activity children can research a job they would like to pursue in the future and then create an advert for this job based on what they have found. I have included a SEN template, a word mat and some links for useful websites. Please note I do not own any of the images used in the presentation.

These resources look at people’s relationships with food and how this can become problematic. The powerpoint looks at anorexia including causes, harmful side effects and recovery. It encourages children to think positively about themselves and others. The main activity asks children to create a ‘recipe’ for a healthy body image and is differentiated three ways. All the activities focus on adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers using the formal written method. The mastery activity requires children to decide for themselves whether to add or subtract and includes fun concepts such as Match Attax. It is available in two versions (stickers or plain A4) There are two more challenging or ‘Greater Depth’ activities for children who are secure at mastery level. These require more reasoning skills to solve the problems

These reading comprehensions use a number of reading skills including meaning of words in context and inference. They are differentiated for higher ability and lower ability. I do not own the image of the front cover used.

I have written part of a narrative with a science fiction theme that helps children to identify cohesive devices. The first activity asks children (higher ability) to identify fronted adverbials, adverbs and adverbials phrases. The other activities focus solely on fronted adverbials and are slightly differentiated. There is an extension activity underneath asking children to add fronted adverbials to sentences.
