This is designed to suit the Eduqas Paper 1 English Legal Systems unit. This is an unusual evaluation question and students may find it a more challenging one to answer. It is a useful essay to assign in Year 13 as part of exam preparation. Along with the essay question there is also a model plan and a model answer that can help support your marking and support students in doing their DIRT work.

Essay Topic: Discharge Unit: Contract Law Marks: 25 Exam Board: Eduqas This is a discharge scenario style question designed for A-Level Law students. It is designed for the Eduqas exam board but can easily be modified to suit an AQA 30 marker or similar. The discharge scenario focuses on a variety of elements of discharge including frustration. Included is a model plan and a model answer that are designed to help support your marking and also help support students in their DIRT. I recommend giving students 40 minutes in class to answer this question.

Exam Board: Eduqas Marks: 25 Marks Topic: Res Ipsa Loquitur Unit: Tort Law This is an Eduqas style 25 mark scenario question on negligence with a focus on res ipsa loquitur. This is good practice for the tort law unit. As well as dealing with various instances of res ipsa there is also a causation issue that will help to distinguish the higher grade students. Although this is designed to be an Eduqas 25 marker it could easily be adapted to other exam boards. Included is a model plan and a model answer. These are great to help support you with marking and to also support students with DIRT.

This is a really fun little contract law revision exercise. I run this quiz every year with my year 12 students and they absolutely love it. There are six rounds and it takes about an hour to complete. Extra rounds can easily be added or removed depending on the length of the lesson you have to fit it into. Exam Board: Eduqas Students will need knowledge of all English Legal Systems topics (except Statutory Interpretation). This should make it suitable for year 12 just before Christmas but it would also suit year 13. This crib sheet is designed to help support students as they study contract law remedies. It can be useful for structuring notes in class, as a revision activity or as a homework task. The sheet looks great printed in colour but also prints fine in black and white. Boxes to complete: What are the limitations on the availability of damages? These placemats are a great plenary activity for lessons on consideration. Students can pick questions to answer for the sheet, have questions allocated or have to answer all of the questions. There are different colours for each question to help with distinction. The questions all test different areas of consideration as well as different skills with both evaluation and application style questions. I use this as part of a DIRT lesson following an evaluation essay on consideration. Designed for the Eduqas exam board but would suit other exam boards as well.

This activity asks students to research cases on a particular topic and find a case for each of the headings. This can be useful as a revision activity, as a flipped learning or home learning activity, a homework task or as a starter task when beginning a new topic. There are two versions of the worksheet, each with different questions. You can split these up amongst the class, give everyone the same one or give everyone a two paged task if you want it to last longer. I recommend allocating students a topic. Students then research seven different cases, one for each of the headings. Some may be harder than others depending on the topic! This requires some knowledge of law and how the legal system works. I would expect students to have studied English Legal Systems before doing it.

Topic: Defences and Remedies Unit: Tort Law Exam Board: Eduqas Papers: Paper 2 & Paper 3 This case table is a great revision resource for A-Level law students. It contains gaps to fill in the facts and legal principle for the key cases for defences and remedies under tort law. These cases are the ‘tier 1’ cases and sections. These are cases that will appear in every problem question answer for defences and remedies. Cases included: Jones v Livox Quarries (1952) Morris v Murray (1991) Stapley v Gypsum Mines Ltd (1953) Pilkington v Wood (1953) Legislation Included: Law Reform (Contributory Negligence) Act 1945, s 1(1) How I Use This Resource I give the sheet to students and give them five minutes to complete as much as they can by themselves without notes. I then give them a further five minutes to work as a group. They can then complete the table with notes if there are still gaps. I usually have the table on the board and fill it in throughout if students as me for clarity or shout out any answers! By the end of about 15 minutes every students should have a completed sheet.

Topic: Bail Unit: English Legal Systems Paper: Paper 1 Marks: 10 Exam Board: Eduqas This is a 10 mark (AO1) question on bail designed to suit the Eduqas exam board. This would also work as an 8 marker from OCR. The question asks students to describe how bail works. There is also a model plan and a model answer included to help with marking/DIRT work. Students should be given about 15 minutes to answer if doing the question under timed conditions.
