This SOW combines both Media and English in order for students to construct a film review during their assessment week. This assembly is interactive and covers the concept of Democracy, whilst also introducing the other British values. At the end, there is a task for students and a padlet competition.

In this lesson, students will be planning a tragic piece of theatre, using art as a stimulus. This lesson involves freezeframing, inference skills, and planning not only plot, but set design.

This lesson includes interesting discussions about ancestry and heritage, a character tracking table, comprehension questions, a creative writing task, and an option for a reflective purple pen plenary.

Two lessons on devising tragedy in Drama Lesson 1: Tragedy in Film Lesson 2: Tragedy in Poetry

Students will watch a video and read an article on crocodiles, and then answer comprehension questions. Students will also build better vocabulary in order to be able to complete a more creative newspaper writing task at the end of the lesson.

Students will complete a quick review of chapter 1, and then read and analyse chapter 2. There is a paragraph task at the end, and an opportunity for peer review as well.

This assembly is originally for year 9, reiterating acheivements from the previous term, asking students about their holiday, and stating expectations. Note: This was an online assembly, so adapt as necessary.

This lesson focuses on how perspective can alter scriptwriting. Students will learn key terms, practice freeze-frames and scriptwriting, and perform in front of the class. At the end, students will have a chance to review their own work.

Final lesson of the Commedia week, focusing on an improvised piece, and with an accompanying low-stakes multiple choice quiz.

First lesson in a three lesson mini-scheme for Armitage’s ‘Remains’. This lesson in particular covers key themes, vocabulary, context, and offers a ‘first look’ at the poem.

This lesson should come after an initial introduction to comedy, and Commedia Dell’Arte. This lesson explores the four key character types of Commedia, with a key focus on the ‘master’ and the ‘servant’. Students will analyse their physicality, and then attempt to emulate it in an improvised performance.
