I have been teaching MATHEMATICS (11-16) since 1990. I have regularly been commended on my classroom displays and the quality of my resources as I feel this enriches the student experience. As a self-taught graphic designer I now produce professional quality materials for our academy/academy chain across all departments including posters/banners and promotional materials. I am currently working on updating some older resources as well as developing new ones!

SHAPE and SPACE - Match an a shape to its formula - INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD resource/activity

Use to improve students identification of FORMULA associated with 2d and 3d solid shapes This resource is best used on an interactive whiteboard. You will need Adobe Flash Player on your computer (most have it installed as standard) The activity is to Drag a shape into it’s appropriate position. If it is correct it snaps into place. If it’s incorrect it will return to the top. If you click the ? next to each box it gives info about that shape (click the ? again to make it close before proceeding) I have other resources similar to this for 2d and 3d (solid) shapes

PRIME FACTOR FINDER (1-100) - Starter / Interactive Whiteboard Activity /Lesson Resource

I have used this with all year groups / all abilities as both a starter activity and a lesson resource when covering this topic. It can be used by student or staff on a computer by hovering/rolling/clicking a specific number They can come to the interactive whiteboard and touch one of the numbers to give them the prime factor/index notation for that number. It can be used to check sets of questions from worksheets or as part of a prime factor bingo game. It needs Adobe Flash Player installed on the computer it is being used on. ( Most computers do have this) If anyone can think of other uses please make a comment. *** Apologies to the first few people who downloaded this resource as I mistakenly uploaded the incorrect version- should be OK now) There was a problem with 34 and 78

PENTOMINOES - TRIPLICATES - find solutions to 3x ENLARGEMENTS of PENTOMINO SHAPES

(0)
12 TRIPLICATE WORKSHEETS (one for each pentomino shape) These fit the 15mmx15mm squares from my PENTOMINOES - STARTER KIT that is also free to download) A set of small grids to use as needed, such as collating results. Can be done individually to make a display OR Small groups could be given a different pentomino shape and asked to work together to find as many solutions as they can in a given time. OR A whole class activity working on ONE shape and collectively finding as many different solutions as they can. eg Copy a solution on to one of the small grids and have an area where these can be pinned/stuck so the students would be able to check for duplicates etc INDIVIDUAL PNG’s and PDF’s of each BLANK TRIPLICATE for use on Powerpoint/Notebook slides etc There are over 1000 solutions to the entire set so it would be unrealistic to include them.

MAYAN NUMBERS - An EXCEL program that converts 'DECIMAL' INTEGERS to MAYAN NUMERALS/SYMBOLS

IT also converts given number to the VIGESIMAL (base 20) system i.e. 0=0, 1=1, 2=2, …, 9=9, 10= A, 11=B, … , 19=J. Using different number bases is alway a great lesson to get the students to think about place value and how that works. It is also an excellent way to practice multiplication, division, addition and subtraction as well as some logical thinking. It is also me looking back to the day when you had to do calculate in £, /- , d. and st, lb and oz etc. A PROBABLE USE IS TO GIVE THE STUDENTS A NUMBER TO CONVERT and USE THIS TO CHECK ANSWERS OR USE IT AS A Q&A session/lesson on Converting backwards and forwards between different bases. I have other MAYAN resources including information/worksheets sheets. It should work on any computer as it doesn’t have any macros etc but I made it on EXCEL for the MAC. I think it is best when the screen is zoomed in so that you can only see the main area surrounded by the brown box.

MATHS - 3D SOLIDS - 3D DICE PUZZLE - BUILD A DICE FROM 9 CUBOIDS (NETS SUPPLIED)

(0)
A SURPRISING TRICKY PUZZLE FOR STUDENTS TO BUILD. Definitely useful for construction skills as well as logical thinking. SOLUTION INCLUDED as well as a 3D view of a completed dice(the puzzle is still not easy if you show them this, on say, a SLIDE. Print a set of the nine different cuboid nets. Construct cuboids Use the constructed cuboids to to construct the dice. The usual rules apply i.e. opposite sides add up to 7, so 6 opposite 1 etc There are 8 variations of dice colour/spot colour. The red /yellow one is ready to print but to save ink just use the white with black spots version or perhaps the outline version and they could colour in the spots with one of theie choice. Another step to a solution would be to use the set of completely blank cuboid nets on which the students could draw on the spots , construct a blank dice, take it apart while noting where the various pieces go.

(in the zip file) Choose the diagram from either of the 2 reference guides. Rotate into different positions to get even more variations.
