This is for the Edexcel Biology Topic 4 Natural Selection.
Complete lesson on the Ear and Hearing, designed for the new Activate Scheme but can be used for another syllabus’ as well.
Includes various tasks and discussions around how hearing can be damaged. All answers are provided on the slides so students can self/peer assess. This lesson includes link to a videos to support learning. There is a differentiated worksheet on the structure of the ear and what each structure does. There is a low ability and high ability set of information sheets that can be printed on A3 and placed around the room for the students to use to fill in their worksheet. The lower ability information sheets are best printed in colour and have basic information on them needed to complete the diagram label and part and function match up. In contrast, the higher ability worksheet requires students to read a more detailed information sheet and extract the key information to include themselves when annotating the diagram.

OCR A Level Biology A lesson on Antibiotics. This is one of thirteen lessons to meet the specification points for 4.1.1 Communicable Diseases, disease prevention and the immune system.
Specification points: 4.1.1 (n)
Objectives for this lesson:
• Recall the history of penicillin.
• Describe how antibiotics work to manage bacterial infection.
• Evaluate the benefits and risks of using antibiotics to manage bacterial infections.
This lesson includes some articles for students to read and draw information from so students can develop their research and interpretation skills. You will need to download the articles yourself due to copyright. I found them easily on a basic google search.

KS3 lesson on Genetic modification, looking at what it is, some examples and then discussion on what the problems could potentially be with GMOs. Lesson includes video, discussion, questions and activity where students need to create a cartoon strip on how GMO are created. If you would like to use an alternative activity, you could get students researching and writing a newspaper article on GM crops and the advantages and disadvantages. This would however, require a second lesson with access to computers/GM research.

KS3 lesson on Colour with differentiated starter and questions to suit students off all abilities. Includes a couple of practical activities involving prisms, white light source and coloured filters. The practical is best done in a darkened room. There is opportunities for discussion, linking of the physics of light to everyday objects and deeper thinking all included within this lesson.
The plenary is a challenge grid with 9 questions, students have 10 minutes to complete as many questions as they can. The questions get progressively more challenging. Answers are included on the final slide for students to self assess. The starter activity is to unscramble tiles, I have put a printable version at the front of the powerpoint (2 versions).

Included in this lesson pack is an instruction sheet for students to use as a checklist during the practical to encourage students to follow all instructions in a method.

Complete lesson and worksheet on Energy and Power with worked examples and calculations. Lesson will take between 1-2 lessons depending on ability of group. The lesson works through what is power, then on to changing between units with some practice questions before moving onto the Power equations and practicing using them to calculate energy, power and time. Questions increase in difficulty with more longer questions later on. All answers are included to allow students to self assess. The lesson then goes on to looking at how to calculate cost of electricity.
