A lesson on smoking and vaping amongst young people, aimed at higher level, Leaving Cert students. The first document is a sentence builder worksheet. I ask students to work together to translate the key vocab (dictionaries are available to them for this if required). I then mix up the student pairings so that everyone is working with someone new, and ask the students to categorise the vocab into nouns, verbs and adjectives (this helps to prepare them for the ‘trouvez dans le texte’ questions often seen in the comprehensions in LC exams). Once the words have been translated, categorised and corrected, students work alone to translate the sentences on the worksheet from French to English. These sentences can then be used in an opinion piece on this topic. The second document is a text which can be used to further build and enrich vocab, can be used as a reading activity, or as a comprehension. Useful vocab and expressions can be identified and copied into a notes copy or added to the first worksheet for future use in opinion pieces. I find these activities really useful for preparing students for opinion questions or oral questions on these themes. Differentiation can be facilitated through the student pairings. A worksheet based on Clara Luciani, a French singer currently in the charts (2019). There are 7 sentences which are written in the wrong order. For each sentence, students must write the correct version and then translate to English. These sentences will give students an introduction into this French musician. A grid which contains the most important verbs for Junior Cert (GSCE level) French in the infinitive, present, past and future tense. Very useful for students of any age/level/class. My students love it and it's their 'go to' resource for all written exercises. A must have resource for teaching French!

A well laid out and easy to follow notes handout on the 'Petit Mot' (French note) which frequently comes up in the Junior Cert OL and HL paper. Includes notes on how the note should be formatted and has different scenarios laid out under headings. PDF format.

PPT presenting 'L'impératif' (regular and irregular) with incorporated activities, transitions and animations. Comes with worksheet which includes a comprehension section and a production section. Second worksheet is simple one using images to illustrate classroom commands. Can be used to form part of an assessment, as a recap activity or as homework.

A word document which contains key phrases for the French Letter (Junior Cert standard). Phrases are under headings e.g. family, friends, the weekend, pastimes etc... so that they are easy to find. English and French are used for each phrase. This is a go-to handout for students when writing French letters and should cover the majority of content needed for Higher level and ordinary level. Could also be used to prep students for their oral exam as it covers most topics that come Up in the oral. Also attached is a short PPT to introduce the letter to higher level students. The handout is separated into different headings e.g. to introduce ideas, to express opinion, feelings, agreeing with a statement, disagreeing, general etc... Also includes a variety of different tenses. Very useful for Leaving Cert/A level students.
