A 2 page word document worksheet which is based around school vocab and some adjectives linked with school. Students will need to revise adjective agreements to complete the adjective cloze test. Could be used as a class task, homework or as an exam.

A 15 slide PPT which explains how to form the passé compose tense (verbs that go with avoir). Gives examples, lists the irregular past participles and has 2 gap fill exercises to assess students understanding of the topic. Attached also is a translation worksheet based on passé composé with avoir which could be used in class, for HW, as a peer exercise or as an exam. 24 sentences are in English and must be translated into French.

A lesson based on the possessive adjectives in French. Firstly, I use a word document which displays the possessive adjectives in an easy to follow grid. I copy this and distribute to students for their folder/hard back copy or alternatively, it could be projected and taken down. The second document is a word doc worksheet on which the students can practice what they've learned by filling the missing possessive adjective into each sentence. This is a starter worksheet and so, I have noted on it whether the noun is masc/fem'/plural. The final document is another cloze test that could be used for homework, in class or for an exam. Students must insert the correct possessive adjective in the blank space and then must translate each sentence from French to English.

A hand out with statements based on alcohol which is very useful for answering opinion pieces in French. Could also be used for preparing advanced students for oral exam. Word document.

Two worksheets based on ‘La Météo’- The French Weather Forecast. Each worksheet has a map of France and a simple weather forecast. Students work in pairs to read the description written on their page to their partner. Their partner must listen carefully and draw weather symbols/temperatures etc on the weather map on their own page. Then swap roles. This activity allows the students to practice their oral skills as well as their listening skills. It also allows them to practice key weather phrases and compass points in French. A worksheet based on Belgian singer/songwriter Angele. The worksheet begins with a short comprehension followed by English questions. This gives an overview of her life and how she got into music. Second exercise is based on her song ‘Tout Oublier’. Students must watch the music video and put the images from the video in the correct order. Finally, there are selected words from the lyrics of the song and students must catagorize the words e.g. an adverb, a past participle, an infinitive verb etc… I use this resource with my TY classes as Angele is very current. An activity and worksheet based on Stromae’s song Papaoutai. Firstly, there is a listening activity where the lyrics are laminated and cut up into small chunks of text. Students work together in groups to listen to the song and re-order the lyrics correctly. Differentiation can be facilitated through the specific creation of groups here. Usually students need to here the song twice but of course, it can be played again if needed. This listening task is followed with the worksheet which takes a closer look at the lyrics. Students are asked to find different types of words/grammar in the text (e.g. an infinitive verb, an adverb, a possessive adjective etc…), then have to catagorize positive and negative adjectives and finally have to translate some potentially new words from the lyrics. The lyrics are also attached so that students have a copy each to analyze but the laminated lyrics can also be used and worksheet can be completed in a group. Detailed notes based on 'le formulaire'/filling in an application form- which appears in the Ordinary Level Leaving Cert exam. Includes notes on short and long questions and also translations of key question words.

Three worksheets based on 'Grand Corps Malade. First worksheet is a biography about him and his life. Questions here are in English (to be answered in English). This can be a starter activity to introduce students to the artist. Second Worksheet is based on his song ‘Je viens de la’ and is designed as a cloze test. It also has a short translation activity and a grammar activity too which can be assigned for homework. Third worksheet is adapted from an authentic source (French online newspaper) and questions are in French (to be answered in French). This can be differentiated by changing the questions to English/writing easier questions. Again, this can be done in class or for homework. The three worksheets are designed so that the students are progressively challenged , starting quite easy and finishing with difficult questions to be answered in the target language. I use this study as part of my TY module.

Five resources based on francophone artist Stromae. I use these resources in my Transition Year module and also with my ordinary level leaving cert classes. First is a worksheet and youtube link. Students watch an interview (in English) with Stromae and must note in English as many interesting points as they can. They then have to use the facts/info to make 8 sentences in French about Stromae (can be done individually or as a pair activity a good opportunity to use dictionaries). Listening activity in the form of a gapfill exercise using the lyrics of ‘Formidable’. A word bank can be given to facilitate differentiation if needed. The next activity and worksheet are based on the song Papaoutai. Firstly, there is a listening activity where the lyrics (printed in the larger font) are laminated and cut up into small chunks of text. Worksheets to be sued for a pair activity (listening & comprehension). Description of a bedroom ('La chambre' vocab and prepositions revision) and an empty box on each worksheet. Students must listen to their partner read the description and draw the image to correspond with the paragraph. Each bedroom description is different.

A 19 slide PPT to present directions in French. Includes key phrases and a cartoon image to go with each one.

Adjectives: The first hand out explains how to make adjectives agree in gender and in number and also gives examples. It is a two page word document and is appropriate for all levels. Also attached is a worksheet in which students must insert the correct form of the adjective in each sentence and then translate each sentence. Could also be used as an exam.

30 Images of food items with matching words presented in a PPT. I print and laminate each slide (6 slides per page) and use the pieces as a form of AFL. Students are given all of the pieces and need to match the word with the correct picture. Can make as many sets as you like and students can work individually, in pairs or in small groups. Could also be used for an 'I have, who has' activity. Of course, this can also be used to present the vocab.

A two page hand out explaining when to use and how to form the conditional tense in French. Followed by a short 9 sentence exercise to put the rules into practice.

A 'find someone who' activity based on likes and dislikes of food. Used as a class activity where every student must move around the class asking the questions in French and finding another student who can out their name to the statement. Worksheet is a follow on from the survey activity. Students work alone to categorize each food item mentioned in the survey and to pretend to be ordering food in a restaurant in France. Can be used in class or as a homework assignment.

Futur simple - a PPT based on the simple future in French. Clear, colorful and easy to follow. Linked with Folens book 'Bienvenue en France 2' and two slides incorporate add-on activities from this book. Slides can be deleted or amended to suit any French class. Worksheet includes 10 sentences to be translated from English to French and can be used as an assessment, to recap or as homework.

A hand out which explains when and how to use personal pronouns, direct object pronouns and indirect object pronouns. A 2 page word document. Could be used a lesson starter or as a revision hand out. No exercises attached so this would need to be supplemented.
