This is a Year 6 PSHE and Citizenship lesson about relationships, which focuses on building understanding of negative peer pressure and how it can influence our decisions. Children will discuss the meaning of peer pressure and how it can often be difficult to handle, before discussing examples that can commonly occur in school. An independent or paired task is also provided to reinforce the learning from the lesson. The lesson is aimed at Year 6 but could also be used across upper Key Stage 2. It is fully resourced with planning and relevant supporting materials. The timing of the lesson is approximately 45 – 60 minutes, but, depending on your PSHE timetabling, it can also be easily split into a pair of thirty-minute sessions. This is a Year 6 PSHE and Citizenship lesson about relationships, which also covers internet safety. The focus is on exploring social media use in the context of developing better understanding of digital citizenship. Children will discuss what it takes to become a good digital citizen, including evaluating their own practice and suggesting areas in which to improve. A paired or small group social media themed task is also provided to reinforce the learning from the lesson. The lesson is aimed at Year 6 but could also be used across upper Key Stage 2. It is fully resourced with planning and relevant supporting materials. The timing of the lesson is approximately 45 – 60 minutes, but, depending on your PSHE timetabling, it can also be easily split into a pair of thirty-minute sessions.
