Round Multi-Digit Whole Numbers - Place Value & the Number Line

(0)
UK National Curriculum - Year 4 Programne of Study Number and Place Value Round any number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000 Lots of opportunity to practice rounding whole numbers from 10 to 100,000 place value with (almost) unlimited Worksheets plus Digital Teaching Material for whole class teaching . The resources are divided into two parts: 1. Using Place Value and the Number Line to round to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000 **Worksheet Sets ** Each page has 4 number lines with 4 numbers to round. The first Number Line is fully labeled with 10 divisions between each multiple of 10, 100 or 1000 providing maximum visual support. But the number of divisions reduces until the 4th Number Line which is minimally labeled, so that students then have to think more about scales and the rounding process. At each of the 4 levels you have a choice of generating a worksheet with the question being placed in size order from left to right, or randomly placed in relation to the number line. How Many Worksheets are in each Set ? (Almost) Unlimited. Worksheets for practicing multiplying monomials, binomials, trinomials, and polynomials with four or more terms, with and without exponents. Every Worksheet has 12 questions, which start simple but then develop gradually with questions 11 & 12 being more challenging. The 6 Sets are also arranged in an order that will hopefully help you to plan building the students’ knowledge, skills and confidence with multiplying polynomials. By being able to randomise the numbers in the questions at the click of a button you will be able to generate sufficient worksheets for as much practice throughout the year as is needed to keep the skills alive. Worksheet Set 1 Students are asked to multiply simple monomials by (mainly) binomials, with some tri- & a quadri- nomial. There are no exponents to calculate. Worksheet Set 2 Students are required to multiply binomials by a monomial, moving a stage further to include exponents in each term. Worksheet Set 3 This set involves multiplying two or more monomials each with a number of variables with exponents. Worksheet Set 4 Students now practice multiplying two binomials which will include calculating multiplying variables with exponents, plus the added step of needing to combine like terms to obtain the final answer. Worksheet Set 5 This Set contains questions that include multiplying binomials by trinomials, trinomials by trinomials and trinomials raised to the power of 2 and 3 and students will practice combining like terms. Worksheet Set 6 This has an extra element in that instead of only using the standard algorithms for multiplying polynomials there is an alternative using Pascal’s triangle as a way to calculate binomial terms raised to various powers through recognising the symmetry of the powers and building of the coefficients for each term. There is additional support material for this set. Answers are automatically generated every time. Note These resources work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers.

Order of operations provides a common approach to evaluating numerical expressions that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, parenthesis (brackets) and exponents (indices) across mathematical and scientific disciplines throughout the world. These worksheets enable a smooth transition from the basic four operations calculated separately to solving algebraic equations that requires a good mastery of the order of operations. Differentiated worksheets The worksheets are structured to progressively challenge and develop your students skills in this topic: Set 1: We begin by reviewing the order of operations without exponents Set 2: Exponents are introduced into numerical expressions either a mix of addition and subtraction or multiplication without parentheses Set 3: Parentheses are now added into numerical expressions either a mix of addition and subtraction or multiplication and division Set 4: Each question contains all the elements of PEMDAS (or BODMAS) except parentheses using 3 to 6 numbers Set 5: Each question contains all the elements of PEMDAS (or BODMAS) again using 3 to 6 numbers Set 6: Challenge 1. Students are presented with numerical equations that need a parenthesis to be added to make the equations true. Excellent practice using trial and error and learning to record all trials right and wrong. Set 7: Challenge 2. Each question now has 6 or 7 digits and all the elements of PEMDAS Set 8: Challenge 3. Word base problems need to be translated into numerical expressions and solved How many worksheets are there in total ? Order of operations is a fundamental concept that provides a common approach to evaluating numerical expressions that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and parenthesis (brackets) across various mathematical and scientific disciplines throughout the world. It follows a number of well known acronyms outlining the sequence in which operations should be performed: PEMDAS - USA BODMAS - United Kingdom and Australia BEDMAS - Canada and New Zealand Differentiated Sets The worksheet sets are structured to progressively challenge and develop your students skills in this topic: Set 1: Begin with combining 3 or more numbers with addition & subtraction and separately multiplication & division, to help reinforce and extend your students’ understanding of these primary operations. Set 2: We introduce parentheses to show how they affect the outcome of a calculation, again keeping expressions with addition & subtraction separate from multiplication & division Set 3: The four basic operations are now combined in each question, introducing the practice of calculating multiplication and division before addition and subtraction Set 4: Every pair of questions has the same numbers & operations but one has a parenthesis added in, to show the effect of its inclusion Set 5: All questions now have a mix of the 4 operations and parentheses combining all the practice and skills of the previous 4 sets Set 6: A challenge. Students are presented with numerical equations that need a parenthesis to be added to make the equations true. Excellent practice using trial and error and learning to record all trials right and wrong. Set 7: Translating word based problems into numerical statements and solving them. Set 8: Practical, real life problems requiring translation into numerical statements, and solving. How many worksheets are there in total ? Ratio of two quantities

(0)
Year 6 programme of study: Ratio and proportion: Solve problems involving the relative sizes of two quantities where missing values can be found by using integer multiplication and division facts This resource introduces the concept of ratio, starting with sharing a given quantity using the visual support of tape diagrams (also called the bar model), then moving on to word based problems. Worksheets with visual support Tape diagrams (or bar models) allow students to see the relationships between quantities in a simple graphical format. This visual aid helps students understand the structure of the problem and the relationships between the parts to be shared and how the relationships between quantities change when the ratio changes. They also help to develop a systematic approach to solving ratio problems. Worksheet Sets 1 to 3 The initial quantity and the ratio for sharing are given. Students must find the value of one unit of sharing, color in the tape diagram accordingly, then find the size of each sharedpart of the original quantity. You have a choice of 3 ranges of numbers: Level 1: Under 100 Level 2: to 1000 in multiples of 10 Level 3: to 1000 This gives you the choice of starting with small numbers and focusing on the ratio calculations, then later use the worksheets with larger numbers to bring in extra practice with the 4 operations. Worksheet Sets 4 to 6 A further set of challenging Worksheets with the visual aid contain questions giving the ratio & one of the final answers with the aim to find the initial quantity. As with Worksheets Sets 1-3 you have a choice of 3 ranges of numbers to work with. Worksheet Sets 7 to 9 These have a mix of the formats from Sets 1 to 3 and 4 to 6, with the 3 ranges of numbers, and the additional task of determining the width of the tape diagrams before coloring them in according to the ratio of the parts. Word Problems on Ratio Worksheet Sets The two Sets contain a mix of questions including sharing a given quantity; given a share and the ratio, find the original quantity etc as outlined above, (but now without the visual support), plus finding the ratio of two quantities in their simplest form (equivalence of ratios). The quantities in Set 1 are 1 & 2-Digit numbers, whilst in Set 2 range quantities are 2 & 3-Digit numbers. How many worksheets are there in total ? Area and perimeter of rectangles

(0)
This comprehensive range of differentiated worksheets on calculating the area and perimeter of rectangles are organized into sets, each focusing on a specific strategy. Starting with the foundational “Area 1” set, students begin by counting squares to develop an intuitive understanding of area. As they progress, they’ll start to use the formula for area with & without the visual of rectangles divided into squares. “Perimeter” progresses from simple addition to the application of formulas with and without visual aids. The “Challenge Set” requires students to bring together their knowledge of area and perimeter, & the connection between multiplication and division as inverse operations to solve multi-step problems. Worksheet Sets Area 1 - Starting off with just counting squares Area 2 - Using the formula width x length with squares visible Area 3 - Extending Area 2 with larger rectangles - squares visible Area 4 - Using the formula of length x width with dimensions Area 5 - 2 rectangles simply connected with a common width apply the formula total area = width x length1 + width x length2 - squares visible Area 6 - 2 rectangles simply connected with a common width - apply the formula total area = width (length1 + length2) - squares visible Area 7 - 2 rectangles simply connected with a common side - squares not visible - dimensions of the sides given. Perimeter 1 - Find the perimeter by adding all the sides together - squares visible Perimeter 2 - Use the formula 2 x width + 2 x length - squares visible Perimeter 3 - Use the formula 2(width + length) - Squares visible Perimeter 4 - Dimensions given, squares not visible - dimensions given Challenge - 2 Step problems - Either the perimeter or area is given plus the length of one side. Given these clues student must find the length of the unknown side then from this the unknown area or perimeter choose metric or United States customary units How many worksheets are there in total ? Area and Perimeter of Rectilinear Figures

(0)
Year 4 programme of study- Measurement- measure and calculate the perimeter of a rectilinear figure (including squares) in centimetres and metres find the area of rectilinear shapes by counting squares This math resource could also be called finding the area and perimeter of irregular shapes, polygons or compound rectangles. All the figures are composed of 2 or 3 non-overlapping rectangles. This is a natural follow on from the worksheets of Area and Perimeter of Rectangles In each shape there will be one or more side that is unknown and students will have to find its value, either by counting in the case where the figures are on a grid, or calculating where lengths are given, in order to complete the area or perimeter calculation. To find the area, students must first break down the shape into rectangles, and by either counting squares, using the formula for area or perimeter of a rectangle, get to the final answer. There are 6 Sets of Differentiated Worksheets Sets 1 to 4 are made up of 2 non-overlapping rectangles Set 1: Introduction - Find the total area of the shapes shown on a grid, each shape divided into 2 rectangles. Set 2: Find the area and perimeter of the shapes shown on a grid. Students must now divide the shape into 2 rectangles and add them to find the area. Set 3: Find the area of rectangles with a rectangular space inside shown on a grid - subtract one from the other to find the shaded area. These are not overlapping rectangles but show a situation where instead of adding , areas must now be subtracted. Set 4: Find the area and perimeter. No grid. Measurements are given with one or two of them missing. Sets 5 & 6 are made up of 3 non-overlapping rectangles Set 5: Find the area and perimeter of the shapes shown on a grid. Students must now divide the shape into 3 rectangles and add them to find the total area. Set 6: Find the area and perimeter. No grid. Measurements are given with one or two of them missing. Students must now divide the shape into 3 rectangles and add them to find the total area. How many worksheets are there in total ? The first set, adding & subtracting a 4-digit number from a 5-digit number, can serve as a useful interim step between adding & subtracting 4-digit numbers and adding & subtracting 5-digit numbers. It provides a valuable transition in the learning process. The Worksheet Sets Addition Add a 4- and 5-Digit number Add two 5-Digit numbers Add three 5-Digit numbers Add four 5-Digit numbers Subtraction Subtract a 4-Digit from a 5-Digit number Subtract two 5-Digit numbers Presentation of Questions For all of the above, the questions are presented in 2 layouts: • The standard algorithm, laid out vertically with the questions and answer lines prepared. • The questions are presented in the horizontal format so that your students have to properly align the digits based on their place values, which is essential for accurate addition & subtraction. This practice reinforces the concept of place value and helps students develop a better understanding of how digits in different positions represent different values. ** This format could also be useful for practicing addition with any informal methods that are part of your syllabus or even estimation ** Number Formats You have a choice of 3 different number formats which will cover most educators’ needs around the world. • A comma separator - for the USA & UK e.g. 23,334,290 • A space separator - Canada, Australia, many European countries, and the International System of Units (SI) e.g. 23 334 290 • No separator - used in scientific writings, page numbers, years & addresses etc. e.g. 23334290 Almost Unlimited Worksheets Almost unlimited. At the click of a button all numbers are randomized, and will therefore change every time so you can create as many different worksheets for classwork, homework, revision, preparing for assessment etc. Answers are automatically generated every time. No-Prep Worksheets These are straightforward no-prep worksheets that require no extra work. Simply CLICK-PRINT AND GO. This makes them ideal to have printed and ready for a replacement teacher if needed. Note These resources work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers.

YEAR 4 - Number – addition and subtraction - add and subtract numbers with up to 4 digits using the formal written methods of columnar addition and subtraction where appropriate This is a no frills set of differentiated Worksheets providing an (almost) endless source of practicing column addition and subtraction of 4-Digit numbers using the standard algorithm. The first set of worksheets, adding & subtracting a 3-digit number from a 4-digit number, can serve as a useful interim step between adding & subtracting 3-digit numbers and adding & subtracting 4-digit numbers. It helps bridge the gap between these two levels of difficulty and provides a valuable transition in the learning process. The Worksheet Sets are as follows Addition •Add a 3-Digit and a 4-Digit number •Add two 4-Digit numbers •Add a 2-Digit, 3-Digit and 4-Digit numbers •Add three 4-Digit numbers •Add four numbers – a mix of 2-Digit, 3-Digit and 4-Digit numbers •Add four 4-Digit numbers Subtraction •Subtract a 3-Digit number from a 4-Digit number •Subtraction with two 4-Digit numbers Layout of Questions For all of the above, the questions are presented in 2 layouts: • The standard algorithm, laid out vertically with the questions and answer lines prepared. • The questions are presented in the horizontal format so that your students have to properly align the digits based on their place values, which is essential for accurate addition & subtraction. This practice reinforces the concept of place value and helps students develop a better understanding of how digits in different positions represent different values. ** This format could also be useful for practicing addition with any informal methods that are part of your syllabus or even estimation ** Number Formats For these resources you have a choice of 3 different number formats which will cover most educators’ needs around the world. • A comma separator - for the USA & UK e.g. 23,334,290 • A space separator - Canada, Australia, many European countries, and the International System of Units (SI) e.g. 23 334 290 • No separator - used in scientific writings, page numbers, years & addresses etc. e.g. 23334290 How many Worksheets in each set? Almost unlimited. At the click of a button all numbers are randomized, and will therefore change every time so you can create as many different worksheets for classwork, homework, revision, preparing for assessment, review before moving on to 5 or more -digits, etc. Answers are automatically generated every time. This math resource is designed for pupils to practice placing the decimal point when multiplying two decimal numbers and is good preparation for the work of “Multiplying Decimals with the Standard Algorithm.” You will have 5 levels of Worksheets for pupils to practice whatever method you have taught them with the questions set out horizontally AND vertically. In the first 4 sets of worksheets, the questions are presented in such a way that pupils can see the progression from the multiplier being a whole number, then 10ths, then 100ths. The idea behind this is that at the same time learning the method for placing the decimal point they get the opportunity to see any patterns that might emerge in the numbers produced. Set 1 - Multiplicand - Units 5 x 3 5 x 0.3 5 x 0.03 Set 2 - Multiplicand - Tens 20 x 6 20 x 0.6 20 x 0.06 Set 3 - Multiplicand - Tenths 0.7 x 9 0.7 x 0.9 0.7 x 0.09 Set 4 - Multiplicand - Hundredths 0.07 x 6 0.07 x 0.6 0.07 x 0.06 Set 5 is more of a challenge. Questions are laid out in a random order, so for example one question may be: 0.7 x 0.05 7 x 0.5 0.005 x 5 How many worksheets are in each set ? (almost) Unlimited. At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so you can create as many different worksheets as you need for classwork, homework, revision, preparing for assessment, fillers etc and the numbers will change every time. Answers are automatically generated every time a worksheet is created. Note: These resources work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers.
