Le vocabulaire de Noël - One week French vocabulary program for Christmas Vocabulary theme: Quand je me réveille le matin de Noël… This one-week French vocabulary acquisition program will have your students working with a set of 12 words or phrases every day of the week, and is perfect for French immersion, core French, and both primary and secondary during the month of December. These vocabulary activities are specifically meant to be used along with my my Christmas themed reading and writing programs which use a lot of the same vocabulary. This program includes 7 pre-writing and writing activities for you to choose from for vocabulary exposure on this theme for one whole week - Monday through Friday. French Daily Planner and Journal - Mon Agenda Quotidien - Full Year Program Wouldn’t you love to have your students practice their French a little every day in a very personalized way? Here’s a planner - un agenda quotidien - that your students are going to love! C’est un agenda quotidien pour leur faire faire un peu de français tous les jours. It’s a good idea for everyone to have a weekly (or daily) planner to keep up with everything that needs to be done, and this way practicing French can be checked off as well! So far there are 100 pages (50 if you print double-sided) which correspond to planners/journals for 50 days. If you choose to have your students do one per week, this can be a full year program. Be sure to watch the video I made so you can see all of the rich material inside and I can tell you how I like to use this journal. You’ll see that I printed mine (double sided) on pretty parchment paper and turned it into a book that really feels like a journal, but plain white paper and folders to store them in work just as well. This version of the game focuses on 104 nouns and verbs which are all about the les voyages et les vacances. This game work for any level as it is written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only version! Included: 2 versions with vocabulary written in French and English 2 versions with vocabulary written in French only Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the game and use it as a whole class activity. This game includes 104 words. Many of the words may be new to your students as this game is meant not only to practice forming questions, but also to build vocabulary. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play until they’re somewhat familiar with the words. After they’ve played the games a few times looking at the French-English version they feel more prepared to move on to the French only version. You could also photocopy a two sided version, one with English and French and the other with French only. One student in the small group or class chooses a word on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret word. The student who has chosen the secret word can answer using the following responses: OUI - NON - PARFOIS - RAREMENT - GÉNÉRALEMENT - PEUT-ÊTRE - CELA DÉPEND - PROBABLEMENT Alternative game play: To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret word describe it to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret word, other students listen to the description and guess it.

French Circling Activity - French pronouns and verbs in 3 tenses Research reveals that language learners need MANY repetitions of grammatical structures in order to truly acquire them. By using the circling method, familiarity with the word or phrase is done through repetitive questions circling around the target language. This particular activity is different to many French TPRS circling activities because it doesn’t tell a story. Instead, this activity focuses on French verbs, the pronouns LE - LA - LES - LUI - LEUR - Y - EN, possessive adjectives, and other less frequently used words that students will acquire through meaningful repetition. Each series of sentences is spoken in the present, passé composé, and futur proche tenses, and different forms of negation are included. Read on to see how you can easily differentiate this activity by using video, audio, and practice cards. Here’s how it works: I speak a sentence: Le chien ne veut pas de ses croquettes. Il n’en veut pas. I tell students to restate the sentence using a different subject pronoun: Les chats Students restate the sentence making necessary changes: Les chats ne veulent pas de leurs croquettes. Les chats n’en veulent pas. Included: Full length downloadable video circling activity - 362 slides - 53 minutes Practice cards for online use to work on reading and writing - 360 cards Step 1: Watch the video lesson / activity to learn about the circling method. Students will quickly catch on, and will truly need to concentrate so that they can make the necessary changes in their sentences. Do your students ever tell you that they can understand what’s being said, but can’t think fast enough to make the necessary changes when responding? That’s exactly why you should have them try out circling! Step 2: Use the set of cards to practice reading and writing. Read the cards that I have spoken in step 1, and have students take the time to write their responses before looking at the answer cards. As the cards are not numbered, I encourage you to download them and use them online rather than printing.

This is a set of 140 French relative pronouns practice cards focusing on QUI - QUE - OÙ - DONT. These cards are so much more fun (and challenging) than classic worksheets. There’s lots of repetition, and that’s what our students need to practice and master these confusing relative pronouns. My students find it particularly fun to use these cards as a guessing game with a partner or small group, and even the mysterious DONT becomes a lot easier! Each card displays an image, and beneath the image it is written how to say it in French. For example, C’est un lave-vaisselle. Students are prompted to say at least two sentences using relative pronouns to describe the image, and their partner(s) have to guess what it is. At the top of the card it may say C’est quelque chose que… or C’est quelque chose dont… and at the bottom of the card it may say C’est quelque chose où… or C’est quelque chose qui… Students have to finish the sentences using correct grammar, and they need to give enough information for their partner to make an intelligent guess. In the beginning, it can be very difficult for students to formulate their own sentences, and that’s why there are two sets of 70 cards included with this resource. SET ONE: The cards have two clues already written on them. This is a nice way for students to warm up to the activity, understand how it works, and get in some valuable practice and examples. In this version, students read the clues to their partner(s) and soak in the grammar while their peers practice their listening skills. SET TWO: These are the same cards, but the clues are not written on them. Students will have already practiced with SET ONE, and should be able to come up with their own sentences (and if they remember the ones from SET ONE… all the better)! The only clues they are given is whether they should follow the prompt with a subject or verb since those rules can be tricky and hard to remember. These practice cards provide a quick NO PREP activity that you can use for years to come. You have the option of printing and cutting out the cards (4 per page - laminate if possible) or having students use the PDF file on their devices (1 per page).
