Imperfect tense French ER Verbs - Primary French conjugation chains - Cut and paste This literacy center or independent work activity for primary core French or primary French immersion is a fun, hands-on way for your students to practice conjugating 35 different regular French verbs in the imperfect tense. Each verb page has ten strips to cut out. The first one is for the student’s name, and the following nine strips are for conjugating JE - TU - IL - ELLE - ON - NOUS - VOUS - ILS - ELLES. Students begin by filling in the blanks to add the correct imperfect tense endings. The number of letters needed for the endings is indicated by the number of blanks provided to help students while learning or reviewing conjugations. Next, they cut out the strips and paste them together forming conjugation chains. They’ll love hanging them up around the classroom! 65 Intermediate to upper-intermediate question cards for speaking prompts Use this set of INTERMEDIATE to UPPER-INTERMEDIATE FRENCH conversation prompt cards to get even your most timid students talking to each other in French. These 65 question cards are terrific for discussion and journal writing prompts. Each and every card is unique. Some are more advanced than others. Since there are so many of them you can easily print them, cut them out, and then sort them into stacks of different levels of difficulty for years and years of no-prep activities. These speaking and writing prompt cards are meant for SECONDARY education and will not necessarily be a good fit for primary. The cards are in FRENCH only. This activity is perfect for small groups or as a whole class activity. Use these cards as a review and vocabulary builder An easy to project PDF with only one card per page is included in case you want to work on the questions as a class without printing and cutting out the cards. Included: 65 question cards Easy to project PDF file (one card per page) There are many ways you can use this set of 65 speaking cards: ➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions. ➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity or ice breaker with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box. ➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out their answers including reasons for their preferences. ➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer. ➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards. ➤ Use the cards with board games. The booklet includes all of the essential information needed for saying should have, could have, and would have. ➯ A two page study guide on forming the present conditional that highlights how to say should have, could have, and would have. If you do double-sided printing you can still just pass out one sheet of paper. The study guide is jam packed with everything you need to know about the past conditional. ✮ French Taboo Game - Animals - Les Animaux ✮ Playing games and having fun is when learning really happens in French class. I love to play the game Taboo with my students. French Taboo is a game that is easy to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. This taboo speaking game is includes 75 cards about animals: pets, farm animals, wild animals, sea life, insects, etc. There is a set written in English and French and a set in French only. Great for immersion schools! Object of the game One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can’t use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. The teams take turn guessing and verifying no Taboo words have been used. You can also play this game in pairs if everyone agrees not to cheat :-) Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues. You can also have your students study the vocabulary on the cards! While playing this game, your students will be working with 375 French words!
