Conditional - Bataille Navale - French present conditional battleship game

French conditional - Bataille Navale - French present conditional battleship game Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to have your students practice the present conditional tense. This game is perfect for both core and immersion curriculums and everything written on the games is in French. *There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of responses possible. I encourage you to allow your students to use a resource that you choose for them to check your answers. This resource includes 40 different verbs including all of the common ones with irregular stems and a few with spelling changes as well as a good mix of regular verbs. 5 different versions of the game are included. Just print out one page of the version of this game that you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats. Subject pronouns are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the imperfect tense. Another idea is to have students make simple sentences using the subject pronoun and verb of choice. All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent. This resource includes 5 versions of the game with both black and white and color copies and instructions on how to play. 20 questions for any language class - Celebrities, Historical Figures, Characters The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming questions and in these 3 versions of the game, students will practice using descriptive vocabulary to describe people. The games are great for getting students to speak any language classroom. Included: 1 page to print out with the names of 52 celebrities 1 page to print out with the names of 52 historical people 1 page to print out with the names of 52 characters Have students work in small groups of 2-4 or project the version of the game you want to use, and play as a whole class. One student in the small group or class chooses a person on the chart. Other students ask up to 20 questions trying to guess the secret person. I like to allow my students to look at the game chart while they play. It helps move the game along and keeps kids from getting “stuck”. You can play this game in any language. Show your students sample questions in the target language. Some examples: Is it a man / woman? Is it someone who is still living today? Is it an actor / singer? Is this person older than 40? Does / Did this person live in America / Europe / Asia / etc? The student who has chosen the secret person can answer using the following responses: YES - NO - SOMETIMES - RARELY - GENERALLY - MAYBE - IT DEPENDS - PROBABLY Alternative game play: To change up the game and to make it more challenging as well as practicing other skills, have the student who chooses the secret person describe that person to others in the group. Instead of asking questions about the secret person, other students listen to the description and guess who it is.
