GCSE FRENCH: French Speaking Questions Task Cards - 8 Tense Bundle

8 Resources
These 8 sets of 30 speaking questions are just right for students who need to practice the FRENCH VERB TENSES, and they are a perfect no prep speaking activity for busy teachers. Each set of EST-CE QUE questions uses the TU form with verbs in the various tenses. In addition to regular and irregular -ER, -IR and -RE verbs I've also included many irregular verbs. This bundle give you 25% off the regular price. There are 8 sets of cards included, one for each of the tenses listed below: Futur proche Futur simple Passé Composé Present Imperfect Conditional Past Conditional Present Subjunctive In order to avoid OUI and NON answers, each question also includes an interrogative word which is great practice in helping to remember what they mean and where they're placed in the sentence. Since all of the questions are asked in the TU form, all of the answers will be in the first person singular. This is so that students can really focus and get used to using these verbs when talking about themselves and when talking to a friend. Just cut out the 30 cards, punch holes in the spaces provided and attach the stack of cards with a key ring. It would be a great idea to print on card stock and laminate the cards before punching holes and attaching them. Super easy and no prep for years to come. Both black and white and color versions are included as well as a 2 page print out of the questions if you should decide to use them as a quiz or homework assignment. I am a firm believer that repetition is key in learning a language, and that's why I've created many different versions of these speaking cards. All of the cards ask the same basic questions, but each time in a different tense. My students really appreciate the familiarity of the cards even when learning a new tense. As your students learn more and more tenses you could easily create small groups, give each student in the group a different tense stack, and have them ask each other the same basic questions but in different tenses. That's a very effective review of verb forms!

Play this LA SAINT PATRICK French Taboo game and have some fun! Playing games and having fun is when learning really happens in French class. I love to play the game Taboo with my students. French taboo is a game that is easy to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. Your students will learn a lot of new and useful vocabulary while preparing for and playing this fun game. This French Saint Patrick's Day Taboo game includes: 28 different Taboo game cards to create a deck that you will print and cut out for as many teams as you need (black and white + color versions provided). Game instructions for both beginner and advanced students. Object of the game: One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are those written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed, and the team with the most points wins.

GCSE FRENCH: Passé Composé of Regular French Verbs Lesson - Verbes Réguliers

Perfect idea for a "flipped classroom": Send this activity home with your students as homework the night before you want to start working on the passé composé. They'll be ready to start using it the next day, and you can use your precious class time more efficiently. This lesson is an introduction to the simple past tense (le passé composé). It includes an explanation of when to use the P.C., a review of "avoir" and regular -er, -ir, and -re verbs in the present tense + formation of past participles and how to form the passé composé. There are links to two of my videos on YouTube (one for the p.c. of regular verbs and one for irregular verbs, but both videos are only for verbs that use "avoir" as helping verb).

GCSE FRENCH: French Passé Composé with ÊTRE: Lesson + Exercises

This is meant to be a set of exercises to be used after presenting the passé composé with être. For a change of pace (or in case of teacher absence), when introducing the passé composé with être, you could use this set of exercises to reinforce the 20 minute lesson I've recorded on YouTube (it's free: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6-HxU_nIoY). This could make for an excellent interactive homework assignment! Students will identify which verbs need avoir, and which need être, they'll write the definition of an intransitive verb, they'll list the 17 verbs that use être in the P.C., they'll identify the verbs that sometimes use "être" and other times use "avoir", they'll have to know that reflexive verbs also use "être", and finally they will rewrite ten sentences in the passé composé using être as helping verb.

Looking for something interesting to do with your students after winter break? Before starting a new lesson I like to have students talk about what they did during the holidays. Here are 20 task cards with questions about winter break and the holidays that students can either ask each other or individually write down the answers to. Work on these as a class or break students up into small groups to work on them, sharing their most interesting answers with the class as a follow up activity. I have also used these task cards in the language lab with the phone option. Print and cut out the cards and have students "call" other students to ask each other questions. This product includes: 20 task cards - Color & black and white versions

GCSE FRENCH: French Speaking Activity: Faire de la Conversation

(0)
Your students are going to learn a lot with this lesson, and it will have them speaking to each other in no time. This lesson can easily be used with beginners, intermediate, or advanced learners. You can adapt it to every level. Beginners should at least know the verbs être and avoir and some very basic vocabulary. More advanced students can go far, as there are many possibilities. Activity 1 Practice making conversation during a phone call from your friend, Luc. He will ask you to come to his party. Your lines are fairly open-ended, but they must correspond to what he says next, so watch out! Activity 2 Before moving on to the second part of this speaking activity, let’s review some of the most common professions. You can practice this new vocabulary by clicking on the link above which will bring you to a set of review exercises on Quizlet. This document contains a list of professions in English and French, then there's another part with only the French word and an image. All of the images correspond to the images found within the Quizlet study set. After reviewing the professions vocabulary, proceed to the next page where you will see a picture of 11 different people, all with different professions. Activity 3 Tout d’abord, comment s’appellent ces gens, quel âge ont-ils, et quelles sont leurs professions? Have a look at the people in this picture. Use your imagination to determine what their professions are (you may not have the same ideas as others, and that’s ok). Once you’ve determined their professions, tell us what their names are, and how old they are. Again, use your imagination, and try to come up with some French names! Look just below the picture to see an example, then complete the exercise by providing the same information for the other 10 people in the picture (left to right). Activity 4 Now let’s imagine we’re at a party (une soirée). It’s time to make polite conversation (ce qui peut être difficile, mais nous sommes très polis, et intéressants!) Let’s imagine that all of the people in the picture above are at the party, but they don’t know each other. It’s time to make small talk (faire des rencontres et des échanges), en français! Activity 5 Randomly choose two people from the picture above. You’ve already established their names, ages, and professions. The objective here is to have two people who don’t know each other make small talk. You will be practicing your conversation skills, which are: starting a conversation, continuing a conversation, and ending a conversation.

GCSE FRENCH: Forming French Questions with Interrogative Words Lesson and Exercises

This lesson has it all: video lesson, lesson in written form with examples, exercises, and a really fun activity to try out with your students. This lesson is all about how to add meaningful question words to simple questions in French so that you will get more than a "yes" or "no" answer. Your students will learn how to use the question words: qui, quoi, que, quel, quand, où, pourquoi, comment, and combien (de). This lesson includes a video, so it can easily be assigned as homework, and you can save precious class time for the fun stuff! Students will learn the rules for knowing where to place the question word in the sentence depending on the type of question they've decided to ask. This lesson is to be used in conjunction with the video lesson found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BNGxGpqm7U&feature=youtu.be Here you will find the basic rules needed for forming questions using intonation, est-ce que, and inversion. There are many useful examples to help understand the rules, and there's even an exercise (with answers included) to test knowledge. Don't forget to try out the activity at the bottom of the document, my students think it's so much fun, and it's a QUIET activity, even better!

GCSE FRENCH: French Verb Tense Exercise

If you have been reviewing verb tenses with your more advanced students, you're going to appreciate this worksheet! 9 tenses are represented in this worksheet, presented by Love Learning Languages: présent, passé composé, imparfait, futur simple, futur antérieur, plus-que-parfait, subjonctif, conditionnel, conditionnel passé. There are 20 sentences to complete. The correct verb tense and infinitive are in parentheses. This quiz is to assess written formation of the different tenses, and not necessarily when to use each of them. However, once your students have taken the quiz, you have an excellent opportunity to go over the answers together, and to explain why each tense was chosen for that particular setting.
