There are 36 different student cards; each card gives a first name, a nationality, age, birthday, number of brothers and the number of sisters. Each student gets a card with an identity. Students mingle and interview 5 classmates and record their answers. Includes 2 versions: 1 with common American - European - Asian nationalities; 1 with Spanish-speaking nationalities.
Mixer activity. Contains 15 unique sets of twins. Each student sheet has 5 statements (Tu tienes dolor de cabeza). Students mingle until they find the one other student who has all 5 of the same statements, although in a different order. Second version uses expressions corresponding to Descubre 1 Lesson 3.

Print on cardstock and cut into cards. There are 16 people or "possessors"; these should be printed on 1 color card. There are 32 things or "possessions" to be printed on a different color. All words are in English. Cards are face down in 2 separate pools; student picks one of each. For example: "the mother's bedroom". He then translates the phrase to the foreign language. IF correct, student gets a point. This can be done as a team competition or with separate groups of 3-4 students. Vocabulary includes family members, general terms for people, rooms of the house, instruments, common objects & places in the city. Vocabulary corresponds to Discovering French Nouveau Bleu unit 5, but may be used with any text or any language.

Merchants get the English cards appropriate for their store. The French cards (36) are divided among the remaining students in the class. The students with the French words must go to the correct store and ask for their item. The merchant replies voici with the name of the item.
