A tool that can be used to explore and develop vocabulary. Simply put a word in the middle and then get children to explore that particular word, including the definition/s, whether they can add prefix or suffixes, what word classes it belongs to, synonyms and antonyms, words they can make from it and any words that they can think that rhyme with it. Not all categories will always be relevant but it will help develop their understanding of a particular word and the branches from it.

A story taken from BBC News about the need to charge people a deposit to reduce how many tents are being left at festivals aterwards. Included is the majority of the story and a comprehension activity that includes answers. Also useful for a discussion about plastic and what children think about the tents left behind and how they could be used/ how the issue could be resolved.

An activity that gets children to round statistics based on the top 10 followed people on Twitter to help with engagement whilst also getting children to consider how to round up or down appropriately depending on the number e.g. rounding 112,543,124 to the nearest million rather than to the nearest 10. For each one, children will cut out the slip and stick it in their book. They will then have to decide whether it is appropriate to round to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 100000 or 1000000. Once they have rounded these they will then write an explanation of why they rounded to that number.

A knowledge organiser for Ancient Greece. Included within this is a timeline for the period as well as a key vocabulary section for some of the words children may come across during the topic. These are useful for either sticking in books at the start of the topic to refer back to or to enlarge and have on display.

Three different activities based on learning about the Vikings. These include: An activity that gives children the opportunity to create their own Viking shield. Included is a design template that includes the iron boss on already and two pages of design ideas that might help children decide what they want to do. A blank map activity that can be used to get children to show where Vikings originate from as well as where they settled. Children can then map out the potential journey the Vikings took to get to the various places through the use of arrows. Included is a map of Europe showing where the Vikings settled and raided to support children. Activities that can be used when teaching the Vikings in KS2. Included is a map activity that requires children to colour the map based on Danelaw and a set of questions that then finishes with a mini-essay style question where children have to apply their knowledge to respond to a statement.

A PowerPoint that includes various fraction questions from previous arithmetic papers. These include models of how to solve it to discuss and practice questions to then apply what they have seen.

A lesson or two lessons worth of slides (depending how much time you spend discussing and exploring using models and manipulatives) that focuses on the objective from Year 4 Spring WRM for what a fraction is.
