Was colonialism good for India? While the question might seem obvious the students will be asked to use their critical thinking skills to investigate sources of information. They will be asked to consider why so many people in India still debate whether colonialism was actually a net positive for Indian development. That is the central question at the heart of this excellent lesson the encourages students to learn the history of India and try to identify the positive and negative contributions Britain made. Well worth a look!

This lesson covers Moses return to Cairo, the ten plagues, his freeing of the slaves, the parting of the Red Sea and the ten commandments. It also gets the students to debate the 10 commandments, and how they would change them given a chance. It also introduces an element of British Values by getting the students to consider why we have rules and laws, and what society might be like without them. A fast paced and interesting lesson. Highly Recommended.

The lesson is the first part of the story of Moses It covers his early life, his escape from Egypt, the burning bush and his dilemma. This lesson is always well received by the students and has been rated as outstanding. A terrific intro to the Moses story and a fun start to a Judaism SoW.

This is an outstanding lesson that introduces the students to an alternative religion called Pastafarianism. It looks at how and why the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster was formed, what they believe in and what the reaction to the religion has been. The lesson contains a number of activities including: True or False Quiz, Scavenger Hunt, Short video clip, class discussion and several thinking tasks. An excellent and fun lesson that gets students to think about what religion really is and why they believe.

Did the British Empire do more harm than good? That is the overall question that the students will attempt to answer in this lesson. It looks at the individual experiences of a number of people who were involved in the British Empire and draws them together to try to formulate an overall picture and answer the big question. A really good end to the Empires unit of work, or a unit on the Industrial Revolution.

This is a useful lesson that introduces the wedding practices enjoyed by many Hindu families across the UK. The lesson compares and contrasts Hindu weddings to other weddings they are familiar with. They will watch part of a Hindu wedding ceremony and then discuss likes /dislikes and questions. They will then illustrate the wedding and explain what each picture represents. A good fun lesson (aimed at KS3).

This is a fun revision activity designed for students studying GCSE/A Level Religious Studies. It can also be used for KS3 as part of a lesson. This is based on the popular New York Times Game Connections this fun revision game is designed to help the students to prepare for the exams or end of year assessments. The topics I have included are: -Christian Beliefs -Marriage and Family -Living the Christian Life -Matters of Life and Death The game is simple; Students need to group together four words and figure out what the connection is between them. But many of the words can fit into multiple groups so they need to be careful. **I have included an answer sheet to make it easier for the teacher! ** As a bonus I have also included a blank template so students/teachers can make their own connections. **This is a fantastic assembly designed to deal with the issue of Gossip or rumours in a school context. ** It was observed by Ofsted and they said it was Outstanding This assembly looks at: -The definition of gossip -Where the term comes from -Why people gossip -What surveys show about gossip in the UK today -What the impact of gossip is -How it can be avoided -6 tips to reduced gossip The assembly can be a straight forward teacher presentation or you can include some audience participation (Q&As, a demonstration of gossip, a quick survey) There are notes under every slide to help the presenter. The assembly should take 15 to 20 minutes. If you are short on time you could skip the video and the quotes. I have also included a follow up activity for form tutors following the assembly to consolidate the key message. All images in this presentation are free to use under a Creative Commons Licence.

It covers: -Myths and Facts -Causes of the virus -The 5 w’s about the virus -Effects -Symptoms -History of pandemics -Advice to keep safe An excellent and well resourced assembly that explains the issue clearly. NOTE - This was created at the beginning of March 2020, so you may need to update the figures on a couple of the slides to give the most up to date information.

This is an fantastic assembly that explores the current Gender Pay Gap in the UK and the reasons why there is still a gap. The assembly covers: -Life for women 100 years ago compared to today -History of the gender pay gap -Reasons why there is still a gap today -Gender pay gap around the world -Case study - Iceland -What can be done about the gap today -Video and quotes This is a powerful and important message that all young people need to hear. This assembly was delivered to year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. It could easily be delivered to KS2 or KS5. This assembly was observed and rated as outstanding for its content, message, visuals and delivery.

This is an outstanding assembly about the future and the choices students will have to make to get ahead of the competition. This is a perfect assembly for student building up to their exams. The assembly gets them to think like employers and ask them who they would choose when faced with three applicants and ten different areas. For each area (such as punctuality, references, experience, appearance etc.) the students are presented with three options and they have to pick the one they think would make the best impression. The point being these are all situations they may well be faced with in the future and they need to make the right choices to get ahead. This assembly also includes a video (which is optional based on how much time you have) as well as a powerful message. This assembly was delivered to year 11 and year 13 but would also be suitable for KS3. The assmbly should take about 15 to 20 min to deliver (less if you don’t show the video clip).
