A power point presentation for use when teaching children the time. This one shows o’clock, but can be altered by turning the clock hands for any times you want. The question and answer is animated and these appear on a click of the key or use of a switch: ‘Can you tell me the time please?’ ‘It’s three o’clock’. The final page is a clock template for children to make their own. Print these on card and laminate. Add split pins for the hands. Children can then make the times indicated on the PPT.

A fun game for young children that can be differentiated from counting and adding small numbers together to adding up to 36. There are different ways of using the resources. Activity 1 Share page 1 and work through together with the children so they understand the process. Then children can complete page 2 on their own, or in pairs. Here they say how many ducks they see on the ponds and add up the numbers using the colour duck key. Page 3 is a template so that the children can add their own colours to the duck key. Add their own ducks to the pond and then work out the answers to the questions. Activity 2 Page 4 is a set of colour duck cards. Duplicate these and cut them out to play matching games, snap, pairs and colour sorting. Page 5 is a pond for children to colour in and add ducks of their own. Page 6 are outline black and white ducks for the children to colour in how they want. They could cut these out and add them to the pond. Extend by making a class pond collage where all the children can add their own duck. *PCS Licenced - Boardmaker symbols.

This is an activity where children collect up objects and test them with magnets to see if they are magnetic. There is a poster showing a collection of objects for testing and a template poster for you or the children to use to draw or write in. You could use a kitchen drawer divider to make your collections in for testing. There is a collection of 18 pictures of everyday objects that children can collect and test. The pictures can be cut out and used for sorting, pasting and discussion. There are 2 recording sheets, 1 where the children can make lists and 1 for children to paste the pictures onto under the headings YES and NO.

Fun with frogs and data handling at KS1. The lesson starts with children looking at the colour poster of 18 frogs all wearing different hats. Children observe carefully looking at the frogs eye colour and types of head wear. Sheet 2 asks children to count and record e.g. number of frogs with brown eyes/party hats/work hats. There are 5 questions to answer. Sheet 3 is for children to draw a hat on each of the frogs and label them. Sheet 4 shows frogs in different positions or activities. Children colour the matching frogs to make them the same. Sheet 5 shows 2 writing frames for children to write about frogs or their findings of the data handling activities.
