Fun with frogs and data handling at KS1. The lesson starts with children looking at the colour poster of 18 frogs all wearing different hats. Children observe carefully looking at the frogs eye colour and types of head wear. Sheet 2 asks children to count and record e.g. number of frogs with brown eyes/party hats/work hats. There are 5 questions to answer. Sheet 3 is for children to draw a hat on each of the frogs and label them. Sheet 4 shows frogs in different positions or activities. Children colour the matching frogs to make them the same. Sheet 5 shows 2 writing frames for children to write about frogs or their findings of the data handling activities.

There are 6 activities: Draw the correct number of food items in the basket. Match the animals to the food they wanted from Steven. Match the animals to the places where they appeared in the story. Match the animals to the position they appear in the story. Write a shopping list for Steven. Write a note for number 25.

A 2D shape activity using hexagons. There are colour and black and white versions included here. The 4 types of sheets show one hexagon, two hexagons joined, three hexagons and a completed pattern on the final sheet. Children can cut out the 2D hexagons and copy or make their own tessellating patterns.

Here are 7 animal faces / worksheets for children to begin to find out about symmetry. All they need are scissors, pencils and a mirror. The animal faces are differentiated as they do get more complex by sheets 6 and 7. An EYFS activity based on Trees linked to Colour, Shape and Pattern. There are 3 designs of trees. Each of the types of trees have 3 worksheets. Colour in the black and white tree to match the colour version. Cut out the colour leaves and add them to the tree outline to recreate the tree exactly or to make a new version. Colour in the leaf outlines to match the colours or use own colours. Then cut out the leaves and add to the tree. For little fingers, you may want to enlarge the sheets for cutting out. Enlarge even more to make a lovely classroom display tree.

6 colour pages of cards with a beach/holiday/summer theme. Duplicate, laminate and cut to make playing cards, Bingo cards or flash cards. These cards are useful to encourage speaking and listening as well as creative writing. Add labels to the cards to make colourful classroom displays.

A counting game where children count the numbers on each tile and add them together. This works well as a mental maths starter encouraging ‘maths talk’. Children could work against the clock for added interest and motivation. Another activity idea is for children to find matching tiles of ‘real’ dominoes and place them onto the sheets.
