This resource is a lecture style lesson focusing on the theme of Victorian Fear, linking in particular to Conan Doyle’s Sign of Four. This resource was created in order to cover the more complex themes in the novel and is aimed at HA students predicted at 7-9 on AQA GCSE literature. This lesson focuses on planning a piece of description around the theme of a chocolate factory. The key focus is on including effective and ambitious vocabulary such as adjectives, verbs, adverbs, personification and nouns but with particular emphasis on ambitious adjectives. All resources needed are attached. Lesson was developed for and successfully taught to mixed ability KS3 but does have skills and areas of focus that can be used for KS4 particularly AQA Language P1/Q5.

This lesson is designed to aid students in comparing the poems Poppies by Jane Weir and Remains by Simon Armitage both taken from the Power and Conflict Anthology from the AQA Literature specification. It is differentiated for mixed ability and focuses on analysis two key quotations from each poem. This is combined with recaps of the key concepts of both poems. All resources are attached and ready to be delivered.

A full lesson examining and discussing interview skills perfect for KS4. Tasks included; creating a success criteria for an employable candidate, discussing the importance of interview etiquette, watching both good and bad interview examples and then creating example responses to commonly asked interview questions.

An unseen poetry lesson based on Wilfred Owen’s poem Dulce Et Decorum Est. The lesson focuses on the skills needed to analyse and create a response based on an unseen poem. This lesson is aimed at and successfully taught to low ability Y11 and is useful for attempting the Unseen Poetry question on AQA GCSE Literature Paper 2.
