C2: Social Inequality; Feminism This lesson encourages students to think about Gender Equality and Discrimination. Students should reflect and apply their knowledge to the agencies of socialisation. There is also a BBC documentary concerning gender inequality around the world. Students can use interactive notebooks to record their new knowledge on the topic.

This lesson is aimed at the Eduqas Exam board. It covers the concept of ‘Authority’ in relation to Max Weber. Expect to find: x 2 exam questions with model answers. This lesson should last 1 hour. It is aimed at the GCSE Eduqas spec and focuses on victims if crime. There are clips and activities with differentiated questions and progress checks. All answers and links can be found in the notes.

This resource contains 10 work sheets with different activities for subject teachers to leave with cover staff. You may wish to use these as homework activities or extension tasks. For some of these tasks you may need glue, scissors and pens. The resources can be used with all exam boards and are aimed at GCSE groups. You can use some of these tasks as revision activities.

This lesson can take between 1 and 3 sessions. It is aimed at GCSE Eduqas Sociology students but can be used with other exam boards too. This lesson will introduce students to the idea of content analysis and students will create their own analysis. Students will be given a hypothesis to prove or disprove on slide 5. Students will then watch two clips from the opening scenes of Disney’s 1991 Beauty and Beast cartoon and the 2017 movie. After calculating and reviewing their results, students will then discuss the strengths and weaknesses to this method using their own experiences. Always read the notes at the bottom of the slides. The lesson contains progress checks and model paragraphs. There are 3 starters and plenary activities. You will need some envelopes for lesson 2 when students are introduced to Pat Carlen. This lesson is aimed at years 9-10 Sociology students studying Research Methods. The lesson focuses on Official Statistics and encourages students to consider contemporary examples and the strengths and weaknesses to this method. There is one exam question with a model answer.

If you have any time left over during the Christmas time period, you may wish to deliver a fun lesson with years 9-11. This lesson was inspired by other teachers from the ‘Resourced Website’.

This PowerPoint contains x 4 lessons with a focus on Media and Crime. The PowerPoints follows the Eduqas exam course. Lesson one focuses on propaganda and how to spot it. Students will watch clips from Digital Disruption and discuss how the media uses propaganda. Links will be made to the hypodermic syringe model. This resources is aimed at GCSE Eduqas paper 2. It introduces students to Functionalism in relation to inequality and role allocation. It’s a starter lesson which encourages students to begin essay planning using interactive note books. The lesson includes model paragraphs to help develop essays. You will need scissors, glue, exercise books, colouring pens and a copy of Eduqas’s grade mark scheme (details can be found in notes on slide 8- MS is optional).

GCSE Sociology Eduqas Exam Board: Longitudinal Studies This lesson is aimed at Eduqas GCSE Sociology students. The aim of this lesson is to introduce the concept of longitudinal studies and consider the strengths and weaknesses. There are two exam questions included as well as engaging activities relating to the ’ Up series’ and the ‘Children of the 90s’ study. Exam questions relate to the C1 paper. Progress check pages have questions and answers in the notes. Any links to appropriate websites and clips can be found in the notes.

x3 Lessons on the social construction of crime. One lesson requires the use of computers. This lesson prepares students to answer and 8 mark exam question . Interactive notebooks are optional.

This resource should be used as a Sociology marketing tool during taster sessions or Option Evening. This resource is aimed at year 8 GCSE students, but can be used with year 9. See image attached. Bags can be purchased cheaply from Amazon or Ebay. Stickers cost between £3-6 from Vista Print. I attach the cards together with treasury tags. Alternatively, you could laminate the cards and place them on tables for parents and students to read and use. Additionally, (budget permitting) you may want to add a sweet or lolly to the bag as a final touch. Note: You will also find an adaptable flyer with general information regarding the Eduqas course. This lesson encourages students to build upon knowledge of Feminism from previous lessons from Module 1: Key Concepts. The lesson has several activities which encourage students to think about the female role, sexism and oppression within the family unit. There are a selection of activities, some of which can be completed for homework. The aim of this lesson is to prepare students for future lessons on conjugal roles.
