You have a crucial role in ensuring the school runs smoothly, which can be very complex and challenging. This ten-page document will provide you with many useful tips and is organised into the following sections: getting started, beginning of the day, during the day, end of day and general tips. Also included are forms for absences and supply teachers. This document is aimed at organising a primary school but many ideas are also relevant to secondary.

I have led English in several primary schools and had a positive impact on improving both reading results and attitudes to reading. Strategies for this have included whole school initiatives, providing training for staff and organising exciting book weeks. This resource consists of a PowerPoint presentation with ten punctuation and grammar activities reflecting the spelling, punctuation and grammar requirements from the year 2 curriculum for English: capital letters, full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, time conjunctions, compound sentences, subordination, apostrophes for possession, noun phrases and commas in lists. These activities are based on an animal theme and each one lasts for 5- 15 minutes. This resource could be used for standalone grammar sessions or as an English starter.
