A game of uno

(1)
For anyone not familiar with the game uno, your object is to be the first to get rid of your cards, having put down on a similar colour or number/ instruction. These cards have no number figures or colours, just words, so before the children play they may choose to colour the cards and add the symbols, or they can just cut them out and play as they are. I encourage learners to say the Spanish aloud and challenge each other on the meaning.

2: Professions

(1)
Lesson 2 continues on from Introduction to Spanish lesson: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/introduction-to-spanish-11706470 Boys and girls choose affirmations beginning with "Soy ...", eg soy contento or soy contenta, to introduce the idea that some adjectives agree with gender. Children work with professions cognates, eg soy recepcionista en un hotel, creating memory cards they can use to play matching pairs games with friends/ test each other with. Link to La Bamba video with bi-lingual lyrics for the quote "Yo no soy marinero, soy captián." Pronunciation work for the letters J and G, and animated review of the lesson.

Querer book

(1)
Learners read the first page and decide what each person wants. Learners turn to the second page and try to say what people want in Spanish, using the pictures as prompts. I cut them out, so I have a book with alternating pages words - no words, and learners make the same.

My Spanish Calendar

My Spanish Calendar

There is an English calendar as a backing sheet, a Spanish copy to provide the words. The words on the Spanish one are cut out and placed over the English words, then they can be stuck in the 'today' spot as a daily activity. Works well laminated and with blu tack. I gave one to each child in a small group to use at home, but would work better blown up to A3 if it is for a whole class.
