The essay compares Remains with Kamikaze and could be used as useful revision tool or for students to level and grade themselves in class with the new 1-9 AQA marking criteria.

This document contains two example responses to an AQA Paper 2 Section B writing question for the 1-9 spec. These responses have been written in the style of a 'student' and contain minor SPAG errors so they can grade both essays based on technical accuracy. There is a space under each response for students to level and grade the answers with feedback. They will need a copy of the marking criteria to do so, which is easily available on the AQA website. A lesson that enables students to be able to effectively compare two of the poems from the Conflict and Power Cluster. This lesson focusses on the question: Compare how poets present attitudes to power and identity in Checking Out Me History and in one other poem from ‘Power and Conflict.’ It features a pictionary (or blockbusters) based starter activity (which the students love!) to help them remember the quotations and also includes a planning grid, example answer and links to the mark scheme. This could stretch to a couple of lessons and is excellent for revision.

A lesson that takes students through the requirements for AQA Paper 2, Question 2 (Write a summary of the differences between...). It helps students understand the differences between inferring and analysing, and contains a differentiated grid for weaker students. It also contains a sample answer, useful starter activity and links to the marking criteria. This is easily available on the E-AQA website, hence why it's not included here. This is very well suited to middle - lower ability GCSE students.

A resource designed to help students understand some key contextual factors that influence Romeo & Juliet. All of the punctuation has been removed so students must check and correct the passage of text first before answering five comprehension questions. I normally use this as a homework activity.

This bespoke lesson guides students through the Romeo and Juliet AQA exam by helping them to annotate an extract and make clear links to other parts of the play. Write about: • How Stevenson presents Dr Jekyll in this extract • How Stevenson presents Dr Jekyll’s lifestyle in the novel as whole Perfect for use in class, as a homework or for a full mock assessment.

A lesson devised for top sets that breaks down the new AQA marking criteria and explores what is meant by 'precise', 'critical' and 'judicious'. It also breaks down the AOs into manageable chunks and provides examples of analysis from different parts of the play. The lesson then moves onto The Witches' Spell and it's use of Trochaic Tetrameter; it also includes a sample answer for students level and grade with the marking criteria.

A lot students struggle with understanding what the writer's opinions and attitudes are; this lesson helps to guide them through the question with a starter, broken down examples, grid activity, example answer and clear links to the new marking criteria.
