This lesson starts by looking at the importance of proteins in organisms. It progresses to look at the structure of amino acids and the types of bonding involved. We revisit ideas on condensation and hydrolysis reactions in polysaccharides and lipids, and then apply the same to forming and breaking peptide bonds. Student are then guided through the stages of structure from primary through to quarternary including the types of bonding involved holding all the structures together. the lesson concludes by looking at the haemoglobin molecule structure as an example of quarternary structure.

This lesson continues from the teaching on carbohydrates and starts with exam questions on polysaccharides. The lesson then progresses into an overview of lipids, their general characteristics and why are are important. There is opportunity for students to build a lipid model using molybeads as structure is taught. Recall of condensation and hydrolysis reactions is required during the teaching of the ester bond. The lesson then looks at saturated and unsaturated fats, linking this into the structure of the phospholipid bilayer. Students are given a research task to discover their importance as energy storage, waterproofing and insulation. The lesson comes complete with Biofact sheets on lipds and some additional exam questions on lipids and carbs. Mark schemes in included.

This lesson concludes learning on the role of the liver in homeostasis. The lesson starts with a review of the location of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland in the brain. It then progresses into describing how ADH works to create an increase of permeability in the collecting ducts so that more water returns to the blood. The final learning episode looks at AHD and the chemical reactions at cellular level.

This lesson explores differences between prokaryotes, eukaryotes and viruses. Students start by recalling eukaryote cell structure in plants and animals and then they are introduced to additional organelles, which they research and are then presented with review slides to ensure they have all the information. Throughout the PPT there are micrographs of specimens so students are able to identify individual organelles. The lesson concludes with a multiple choice quiz.

This lesson can be taught over several sessions. Students start by revisiting how to prepare slides for viewing under the miscroscope, and how to draw observations to A Level standard. YouTube videos and practical tasks are included. The PPT includes micrographs of cells for students calculate magnification and actual size. Later, students are taught how to use a graticule and stage micrograph when calibrating a microscope with practise calculations, working out sizes of specimens. The lesson concludes with a research task on the differences between light, and electron microscopes. The PPT is interspaced with exam questions to assess progress. Also included is a practical booklet that students can use to independently conduct the miscroscope practical, if required.

This bundle consists of three lessons, the first recalls the components of a healthy diet, focusing on the chemical structures of the macrunutrients carbohydrates, fats and proteins, then explaining why they are referred to a macro molecules. The second lesson is a practical lesson, either using teacher demo or student activity to conduct all food test, with supplied student worksheets. The final lesson on DNA structure contains Youtube videos and several activities, with a CIE assessment included.
