This introduction lesson is for teaching of OCR Thematic ALevel course Rebellion and Disorder under the Tudors. It contains everything you need to get started teaching this brilliant ALevel course. I have replanned this lesson 3 times and now I’m happy with it. Lesson examines- the nature of thematic learning- the content and an introduction to rebellion with parallels to 2022/ 2023 context. Card sort activity/ colour code to look for patterns over time in causation of rebellions Activity which recaps and consolidates knowledge from wars of the roses- if you have not studied WOR as Unit 1- you can use the basic info from the slide and adapt it. OCR Rebellion and Disorder under the Tudors ALevel History- this can also be used for other boards studying Tudor Rebellions Lesson 2: Lovell and Stafford Rebellion Comprehensive and complete lesson, fully resourced studying the Lovell and Stafford Rebellion Includes detailed notes on Causes, Aims, Nature, Events, Threat posed, Government response and Impact of the Lovell and Stafford Rebellion. Also includes the “pink sheet” we use to record the basics about all rebellions which aren’t depth studies.

Edexcel; ALevel Politics This is a detailed planning grid for answering 12 mark COMPARATIVE THEORY questions. The questions are all either past paper questions or constructed from the spec. Some are filled in fully, some partly and some blank for students to plan. Includes many potential/ past questions to prepare students for a range of elements from the spec. There are 7 pages of questions here and it took a long time to make so hopefully it is useful! OCR Alevel Tudors Rebellion and Disorder/ Tudor Rebellions This is a lesson on Perkin Warbeck’s rebellion I teach this AFTER the Cornish rebellion even though it technically begins before- this is to group the economic rebs and have them bookended by Dynastic threats and also to show the response to the rebellion when Warbeck lands in Cornwall in Sept and ensure students do not muddle that with the Cornish rebellion of 1497 (early summer) Can be used for any Tudor Rebellions/ Tudors ALevel Very detailed and in depth- all themes covered.

This lesson examines the Amendment process in the US constitution and the pros and cons of it for a debate. Updated with modern examples e.g. a detailed case study showing the evolution of abortion rights issue in USA which can be used to address and discuss the flaws with the blend of vague and specific language. Also includes a colour code of key debates and a detailed case study on the issue of abortion rights and how it has changed since Roe v Wade to illustrate some of the challenges of having a “living” constitution vs Originalism and the blend of specificity and vagueness.

Edexcel Politics ALevel but can be used for AQA This is a double (2 hour) lesson on the Principles and Features of the Constitution. Includes all up to date case studies and examples from the updated Bennett book (2021). Very comprehensive, suitable for new teacher with no knowledge- all informationn and examples included in worksheets and slides. Students to work independently learning about the principles then do some class discussion and evaluation before completing their own “report cards” for the Principles to grade them and justify the grades they have given.

Improved lesson on Federalism and the debates around it looking at Presidents since 2000. For the Edexcel Politics Alevel spec Topic 1 Constitution- addresses the debates around Federalism and the US Constitution Includes essay planning sheet and all resources as well as all up to date examples including President Biden and Dobbs v Women’s Board of Health. Edexcel ALevel Politics- can be adapted to AQA. This lesson (3 hours worth of work) uses the newest Bennett chapters (although almost all key notes are on slides). Examines similarities/ differences between UK and US Constitutions in terms of the three branches of government, nature/ origins, Federalism/ Devolution and also the Comparative theories.

Attached are the standardised grade boundaries I use within my department. They are based on 2019 but with a 1% cushion built in where I think appropriate in case of increases in 2024. These quizzes are for Edexcel but they will also work for AQA for the most part (minor tweaks only). They are thematic- 20 questions per theme with a separate 20 questions on the case studies. (Care and Treatment is huge so this has 22) The questions/ answers are also all in chronological order to help support the building of a narrative of change over time. They are based on the WASIIC factors we use to explain reasons for change/ continuity (War, Attitudes, Science and TEch, Institutions, Individuals and Chance). Box for self evaluation at the bottom. We use these to check how well students are revising- we set them themes to revise each week then quiz them in class in test conditions. They can be peer marked to save time and you still get the results to put in your mark book if you need.

Lessons for the Edexcel 2017 specification- Covers the whole Pressure Groups part of the Democracy topic. Includes case studies and examples as well as many activities, videos and tasks. Worksheets also included. There are 3 full lessons in here as well as resources for homework, independent reading and up to date examples of pressure Groups. Updated examples for 2022-- includes the impact of think tanks on Trussonomics, COVID19 lobbying etc. Also includes a model answer for the past paper question.

Edexcel GCSE lesson for Weimar and Nazi Germany- can be adapted for AQA or iGCSE Could also be used for ALevel as a base to build up. Lesson examining the impact of the Enabling Act and the Night of the Long Knives and how Hitler consolidated and strengthened his position to make himself a dictator The lesson begins with a consolidation/ recap of Hitler becoming Chancellor and the Reichstag Fire decree/ impact. Then it looks at how Hitler used the Enabling Act to attack trade unions and political parties before his purge of political enemies and the SA. Also includes a practice of a “how useful source” Question (although with just one source to save time- includes a model answer highlighting task for a cartoon source. Looks at how and why the Night of the Long Knives happened in 1934 and the Death of Hindenburg which enabled Hitler to name himself Fuhrer Very detailed, complete lesson- no additional resources are needed. Also includes a bonus video sheet for the Rise of the Nazis Episode 3 (BBC) but obviously I cannot include the video for copyright- however if you don’t have access it doesn’t matter- you can use a documentary on youtube or just use the slides.

Made for OCR ALevel Specification but can be used for any ALevel/ GCSE spec with minor tweaks- very detailed. These powerpoints and accompanying resources are all you need to teach/ learn the Causes of the October revolution in great depth I have even included an analysis section at the end to help with essay planning with arguments for each factor. Complete resources will be about 5-6 hours of teaching plus hwk. My resources are perfect for new teachers to Russia or students wanting highest grades- very detailed with all knowledge included. You can use for flipped learning or print out some slides and distribute in groups e.g get some to read about the July Days and other the April Theses/ Lenin’s role etc.
