This is a KS3 lesson for Y7/8 and has quite a high challenge/ stretch and challenge for more able pupils. This is an overview resource/ learning journey for a Key Stage 3 History Curriculum and is a fully editable learning journey powerpoint. Useful for schools looking to improve their History curriculum- has been approved by Ofsted as an outstanding curriculum but can be further adapted/ improved. This lesson is an intro to the Suffragettes for Y9- it examines Victorian attitudes towards women and looks at despite rich women having some benefits they were still repressed in terms of rights in the household, their opinions etc. Includes video clips from Mary Poppins and Oliver Twist, sources from anti-women’s suffrage posters and also discussions around how far sexual equality has moved on since women got the vote with modern adverts and stats.

This is a fun way to bring to life a topic which can be a little dry. Good for contextual understanding of life in medieval England/ Life of a Peasant Villager.

This lesson is a fun and unusual way of introducing the great powers in 1900 and getting pupils to think about International Relations. I took the idea from a version of this at my training school but this is 100% my own version of it with added ridiculousness. It is by far the best introduction to International Relations for KS3 I have ever done. I’ve also used it for Year 10 studying International Relations pre WWI and it worked very well. Includes all resources: Map of house, card sort, powerpoint, instructions for students and teacher and homework

Interpretations of Henry VIII- was he a Tyrant or Renaissance Prince? This lesson is designed for KS3 but is quite challenging so could be used for GCSE. I also have a whole unit of work on the Tudor monarchs for £15 which includes 10 lessons – plenty of high challenge and retrieval. You may want to buy that rather than individual lessons :)

Key Stage 4 or 3 Lesson on the League of Nations and why it failed to prevent war I devised a decision making game to try and make it a little more interesting and to get students to think more deeply about the motivations for the countries in the League in making their decisions not to sanction. This lesson looks at why the League did not stop the powerful nations in the 1930s through a decision making game.
