KS3 Frankenstein Extract Analysis
Four lessons focusing on analysis of Philip Pullmans' play adaptation of Frankenstein. The first two lessons focus on improving essay writing skills while the fourth lesson is a feedback and forward style task. The third lesson is given over to timed writing. This can be used to supplement an existing SoW on the play or as a series of lessons treated as extract analysis in preparation for English Language comprehension. Suitable for a mixed ability year 8 group.
Macbeth GCSE Exam Process Resource With Model Answers
A tablemat resource (slide 1, best printed at A3 size) with a process for responding to exam questions on Macbeth at GCSE level with relevant prompts for developing paragraphs and inclusion of historical contexts. The exam question at the top of the first slide can be adapted depending on the lesson focus.
Model answer paragraphs are also included along with an example version focusing on Act 2:2.
Frankenstein Philip Pullman Stage Adaptation Scheme of Work for KS3
A KS3 SoW that covers the Philip Pullman adaptation of Frankenstein. There are 11 lessons that build up to a reading assessment focusing on extract analysis with additional lessons and resources for speaking and listening activities. Originally planned for a mixed ability year 8 group, this would also work for a higher ability year 7 class.
Kamikaze by Beatrice Garland KS3
A two lesson introduction and practice of analysis skills for the poem 'Kamikaze' by Beatrice Garland. This may work as a springboard for preparing students to engage with ideas and poetry from the 'Conflict and Power' cluster for AQA GCSE English Literature. The lessons would work for a high ability year 8 group or lower year 9. Prior knowledge of basic language and poetic devices is assumed. Powerpoint slides could be printed for scaffolding.

A series of resources for A Christmas Carol and An Inspector Calls. The An Inspector Calls scheme is a 30 lesson unit that covers the entire text with model answers and an exam process guide. The Christmas Carol resources cover activities for extracts from Staves 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 as well as an exam process tablemat. Suitable as revision activities for KS4, while the An Inspector Calls scheme is appropriate for those just beginning to study the text and for extended essay practice.

A bundle consisting of a 12 lesson scheme of work on Oliver Twist for KS3 and 15 lessons of activities, broken up by Stave for A Christmas Carol for KS4.
The Oliver Twist has both reading and descriptive writing assessment tasks, character extract analysis, model answers and a focus on conditions in the Victorian workhouse. There is also an emphasis on making comparisons and links between character and theme. Extracts are attached on the separate Word document. The scheme is suitable for a year 8 group or as a challenge for a year 7 class
The Christmas Carol lessons include accompanying extracts, contextual notes, modelled examples and an exam process scaffold. Suitable for accompanying a read through of the text or as additional analysis for year 11.

A bundle that consists of extract analysis practice from texts such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, Oliver Twist and Coraline. The creative writing resources use images as a stimulus and are based on Victorian London, A Midsummer Night's Dream and developing tension in writing. There are also practice materials that prepare students for question 5 of the English Language papers 1 and 2 for GCSE. Suitable for higher ability year 7 or mixed ability year 8 groups.
KS3 Titania extract analysis and assessment style question
Three lessons that focus on extract analysis on Titania followed by a reading exam style lesson. There is a feedback/forward task after the exam lesson that allows students to consolidate skills. Examples of modelled writing are included. This would supplement an existing scheme on A Midsummer Night's Dream and be suitable for a high ability year 7 group or mixed ability year 8 class that have already studied the text.
