I'm a primary school teacher, & ex-scientist, with 17 years experience. My passions are Maths and Science throughout the school. I spend a lot of time developing challenging and engaging, real-life resources. I co-founded My Science Club in 2021. The majority of my resources are free as I just enjoy the fact that other teachers might find them useful in their schools. If you do use them please leave a wee comment or rate them - all feedback is welcome as it helps me improve my own practice.

Circumference & Perimeter

(1)
Challenging, real-life examples of calculating circumferences and perimeters of circles using Pi. Pupils also practise using a calculator to accurately calculate answers.

Area of an Ellipse Problem

Designed to challenge more able maths students at Primary 7 (Year 6), could be used in S1 as well. Pupils had to derive a formula to find the area of an ellipse given some background information - then they had to use their formula to calculate the area of some ellipses.

Food Preparation & Nutrition Homework

I used this as homework with my Primary 7 (Year 6) class. They had to prepare, or help preparing, a meal at home and note down they made it and what the nutritional values of the food were. Their family then wrote comments about the food. Some of the work I have got in from that has been amazing - scrapbooks, powerpoints and presentations about how to make the meal step by step.

An interactive WhoCan activity designed to test pupils knowledge of nouns and pronouns at KS2/2nd Level. Great way to get pupils to help each other and for the teacher to check of the understanding of pupils.

WhoCan...Fractions, Decimals & Percentages

An interactive resource to develop understanding of the relationship between fractions, decimals & percentages. Great way for pupils to learn from each other - I also use the activity to test the understanding of specific pupils on particular concepts.

A well used activity where pupils have to find pupils in the class to answer questions as they move round the class. The first in a series of maths applications of this excellent activity.
